The position of Enologist reports directly to our Winemaker. The role includes direct oversight and management of all Wine Lab operations, as well as an array of duties pertaining to harvest, year-round winemaking and cellar operations.


SUMMARY JOB DUTIES


•  Lab:

o Manages all duties related to our Winemaking Lab.

o Responsible for all lab supply ordering and maintenance of equipment

o Responsible for maintaining accurate lab records and running equipment

o Assist in implementing QA/QC protocols across all stages of winemaking

•  Inventory:

o Responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and rectifying Bulk and Bottled Inventories, as well as Bottling Supplies.

o Oversees all dispatches orders to FOH and coordinates with Warehouse Manager for movement of bonded to taxpaid warehouses.

•  Wholesale Sales Order Processing: Serves as backup for all wholesale order facilitation

•  Vintrace: Responsible for initial set-up and promoting best utilization of database

o Rectifying and maintaining accounts (vendors, growers, chemicals, bottling supplies, cellar crews)

o Creating all packaging items within Vintrace in coordination with Winemaker

•  Harvest: Coordinates with Winemaker as to specific needs, primarily brix & temps, daily reporting

o Primary and Malic fermentations, determining completion of wines, end of fermentation SO2 adds

o Responsible for accurately conveying to Accounting all grapes received, coordinates with accounting on all harvest costs (chemicals, grapes, freight, etc).

•  Costing: Works with Winemaker, GM, Accounting to calculate and track all COGS for all wines produced.

•  Brand: When called upon, serves our Brand by representing Becker Vineyards for tours, hospitality, and on/off-site special events and participates in Marketing initiatives, Tech Sheet creation, wine label purchasing and review, and various other brand building projects
