SUMMARY
The seasonal Sous Chef is a vital leadership role, responsible for maintaining high standards, supporting culinary operations, and ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests. This position requires a blend of talent, organizational skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team. The schedule is anchored primarily during daytime hours, with some evening hours for special events. The position runs through October, with the potential to evolve into a year-round role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exemplify brand and mission in all aspects of the work, at every moment?
- Ensure cleanliness of department spaces; prior to, during, and after the day of prep or service
- Understand and contribute through culinary brilliance towards hospitality department sales goals
- Provide the highest level of detail
- Execute assignments as directed by the Culinary Director & Chef de Cuisine
- Assign tasks based on skills and experience, and provide on-the-job training and guidance
- Support daily food preparation and ensure dishes meet quality, taste, and presentation standards
- Assist with menu planning and development, collaborating with the executive chef to create new dishes and improve existing ones
- Maintain inventory and manage stock to ensure efficient kitchen operations and minimize waste
- Enforce strict compliance with sanitation, food safety, and health standards, regularly inspecting workstations and equipment.
- Step in for the head chef during their absence, leading the kitchen and making critical decisions as needed
- Participate in special events
- Address and resolve any kitchen issues, such as delays, mistakes, or conflicts, to keep operations running smoothly
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with staff and guests
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High level of integrity and dependability
- Previous culinary experience in higher-end, fast-paced environments
- Professional appearance and demeanor?
- Strong culinary skills and familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail, time management, and multitasking skills
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation principles, and best industry practices
- Must be at least 21 years of age?
- Must be able to safely lift 40 lbs. and stand or walk for long periods at a time
- Must have current Food Handlers Card
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include an office environment, processing facility, vineyard, barrel room, & outdoor venues.
