ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Premium Winery & Vineyard Estate
Position Overview
A privately owned, ultra-premium winery and vineyard estate is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in luxury wine business operations. This is a senior-level role reporting directly to ownership and responsible for the financial integrity, compliance, and operational accounting of a highly regarded small-production winery and vineyard enterprise.
The ideal candidate brings a sophisticated understanding of winery and vineyard accounting, inventory and cost analysis, compliance reporting, and financial stewardship within a premium wine environment where attention to detail, discretion, and precision are essential.
This position is best suited for an accounting professional who values craftsmanship, long-term thinking, operational excellence, and the unique complexities of estate winery operations.
Core Responsibilities
Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations for winery, vineyard, and related entities
Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations
Manage winery and vineyard cost accounting, including:
Farming costs
Bulk and bottled inventory valuation
Production costing
COGS analysis
Vintage tracking
Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Administer accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and cash management functions
Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
Process and reconcile POS and direct-to-consumer sales activity
Oversee federal and state wine industry compliance, including:
TTB reporting
Excise taxes
Sales tax filings
Direct shipping compliance
ABC licensing and renewals
Support ownership with budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and operational decision-making
Maintain organized accounting procedures, internal controls, and administrative systems
Assist with HR administration and office operations as needed within a small, collaborative business environment
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience within the wine industry preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and winery-specific accounting practices
Demonstrated experience with:
Winery inventory accounting
Cost accounting
Multi-entity financial management
Compliance reporting
Payroll administration
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Experience with winery POS, DTC, and eCommerce systems preferred
High level of accuracy, organization, and analytical capability
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong professional judgment, discretion, and communication skills

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $90,000 – $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
