For more than forty years, Sequoia Grove Winery has crafted Napa Valley wines rooted in place, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and brought to life through thoughtful, welcoming hospitality. We believe wine is meant to be shared—and the best experiences happen when people slow down and connect.

We're looking for a Wine Educator & Hospitality Host to create memorable guest experiences through engaging storytelling, thoughtful hospitality, and wine education. This role is responsible for guiding guests through tastings, driving wine and wine club sales, and representing the Sequoia Grove brand with professionalism and authenticity.

This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Tasting Room & Hospitality Manager. The anticipated salary range for this position is between $21.00 and $23.00 per hour plus tips and commissions.

Position Summary
The Wine Educator & Hospitality Host delivers exceptional hospitality experiences by welcoming guests, sharing the story of Sequoia Grove, educating visitors about our wines and vineyards, and building meaningful connections that inspire sales and long-term loyalty. Success in this role comes from a passion for wine, strong communication skills, and the ability to create genuine, personalized guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
•  Welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and authentic hospitality
•  Lead seated tastings, tours, and educational wine experiences for consumers and trade visitors
•  Share the history, vineyards, winemaking philosophy, and wines of Sequoia Grove in an engaging and approachable manner
•  Build rapport with guests and tailor experiences to individual interests and preferences
•  Recommend wines, experiences, and merchandise while confidently asking for the sale
•  Present and enroll guests into Sequoia Grove's wine club and loyalty programs
•  Accurately process wine purchases, memberships, and reservations through winery systems
•  Assist with private events, special experiences, and off-site winery events as needed
•  Maintain a clean, organized, and presentation-ready tasting environment
•  Participate in inventory management, restocking, merchandising, and wine receiving activities
•  Provide visitors with information about Napa Valley, local attractions, and winery offerings
•  Collaborate closely with hospitality, culinary, wine club, and management teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences
•  Support opening and closing duties and perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
•  Previous tasting room, hospitality, restaurant, luxury retail, or wine sales experience preferred
•  Passion for wine, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences
•  Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
•  Proven ability to drive sales and build lasting customer relationships
•  Professional wine certification (WSET, CSW, CMS, or equivalent) preferred
•  Knowledge of Napa Valley wine, viticulture, and winemaking preferred
•  Experience with reservation, CRM, POS, or winery management systems preferred
•  Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
•  Team-oriented with a positive, proactive attitude
•  Professional appearance and demeanor aligned with a luxury hospitality environment
•  Must be able to speak, read, and understand English
•  Must be available weekends, holidays, and peak hospitality seasons
•  Must be at least 21 years of age

Physical Requirements
•  Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
•  Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
