Premier Sonoma Coast winery is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented cellar master. The cellar master position consists of two distinct jobs during the year. The role will be a managerial position during harvest overseeing a team of 10+ employees, while the off-season role will be a non-managerial role focused on daily cellar operations and duties. The right candidate will have year-round cellar experience in wine production with strong team leadership skills as well as the ability to work autonomously and independently. The right candidate will have excellent forklift skills.
Job Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
Harvest:
• Excellent forklift skills.
• Support production team in daily coordination and logistics.
• Train, manage, and oversee seasonal cellar workers during harvest period
• Supervise all harvest production activities, including but not limited to grape receival, processing/ sorting, pump-overs, punch downs, draining and digging tanks, filling press and pressing, racking, cleaning and filling barrels, forklift operation.
Off season:
• Daily coordination with Associate Winemaker on production schedule and the execution of work orders.
• All cellar work – topping, additions, racking, blending, bottling.
• Maintain a maintenance log of all winemaking equipment and schedule services and repairs.
• Pulling samples for winemaker tastings.
• Data entry into database.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Excellent forklift skills in tight environments.
• Minimum 2 years of year-round winery cellar experience.
• Experience in vineyard/ farming preferred.
• BA/BS Degree preferred. High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Experience in MS365 Suite.
• Must have the legal right to work in the US.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to communicate in Spanish and English preferred.
• Ability to direct and manage a 10+ member cellar crew during harvest.
• Ability to lift up to 50+lbs continuously.
• Ability to work in cold, humid environments for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in hot, dry conditions outdoors following safety protocols.
• Ability to work around machinery, electrical, hot water, wine sanitation chemicals, sulfur dioxide.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs and climb ladders repeatedly.
• Ability to work during harvest schedule, which will exceed 40hrs a week, including being available on Saturday and Sunday.
Compensation
• Full time hourly position: $70,000 - $80,000 annually based on experience and qualifications
