Foley Family Farms (FFF) is a rapidly growing West Coast company with farming in California and Oregon.
Position Summary:
The Journeyman Farm Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled mechanical repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics on a wide variety of agricultural equipment and vehicles. This role ensures that all farm machinery operates efficiently and safely to support daily agricultural operations. Will also support trucking operations with mechanic skills and ability to perform regulatory inspections. Class A license is not mandatory but extremely helpful.
Base of operations will be Southern Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties with occasional support to outlying regions. (ex: North Sonoma, Contra Costa, Sacramento, Santa Barbara and Oregon)
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain tractors, harvesters, pumps and pump engines, wind machines and other farm equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and system inspections.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Fabricate, weld, and modify parts or structures as needed.
• Keep accurate records of service and repairs.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field and roadside to minimize downtime.
• Maintain shop tools and equipment in safe, working order.
• Work with farm operators and supervisors to schedule preventative maintenance.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols in the shop and field environments.
• Able to safely utilize a trailer, tie down equipment and perform equipment transportation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical repair, preferably with agricultural machinery.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrains.
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL not required but recommended.
• Ability to work independently and under field conditions and at all hours of the day (dust, noise, weather).
• Knowledge of brand-specific equipment (John Deere, Case, IH, New Holland, Kubota, Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt and all AG associated implements).
• Bilingual preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Comfortable working in outdoor/field conditions.
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina for extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
