POSITION DESCRIPTION
HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

The Company:
Marchesi Antinori, a 26-generation family wine business based in Florence Italy, operates a luxury portfolio of wine estates in the United States including the iconic Stag's Leap Wine Cellars (1976 Judgment of Paris winner), Antinori Napa Valley, and Col Solare, as well as an importing/commercial team based in Napa: Vinattieri 1385. Location: On-site at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa

Position Summary:
As HR Director, you'll be the strategic partner and operational backbone for our US operations across multiple properties. You'll ensure full legal compliance across all HR functions, partner with leadership to build a strong values-driven culture and manage HR operations with both rigor and human judgment.
Job responsibilities include:
HR Operations
•  Oversee HRIS/payroll systems and coordinate payroll processing
•  Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, 401(K), and other programs
•  Leads annual open enrolment
•  Manage compensation, benefits, and workforce planning
•  Support multi-property operations while maintaining organizational consistency
•  Own HR analytics and reporting
•  Manage HR business partner and payroll specialist
Culture & Talent
•  Build and sustain a values-driven culture rooted in our family legacy and commitment to excellence
•  Develop and execute recruiting strategies for premier winemaking and operations talent
•  Partner with leadership on onboarding, professional development, and retention across multi-site operations
•  Lead employee engagement initiatives—communication, events, and recognition programs that reinforce our culture
Legal Compliance & Employment Law
•  Ensure full compliance with California, and Washington employment laws, wage/hour regulations, and industry-specific regulations
•  Stay current on regulatory changes and interpret them for the business
•  Develop and maintain current HR policies and procedures that protect the company and reflect our values
•  Advise managers on employment matters—employee relations, performance management, and legal risk mitigation
•  Prepare documentation as necessary for employee-related litigation; may act as the company's representative in such matters
•  Handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and sound judgment

Position Requirements:
•  10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including a focus on employee relations, investigations, compliance, HRIS, recruiting and development.
•  Deep knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices.
•  Demostrated experience with HRIS/Payroll systems (Paylocity preferred)
•  Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and related professional certification a plus.
•  Experience within a wine industry/retail/hospitality/manufacturing environment and hourly employee experience strongly preferred.
•  Travel to our various wineries/vineyards will be required.
•  Strong aptitude for critical thinking, insights and analysis, providing sound rationale for recommendations.
•  Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
•  Strong communication skills with varied audiences to include written, verbal and presentation.
•  Spanish speaking preferred.
•  Ability to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
•  Insurable as a driver on our company vehicle insurance policy.

Your Compensation:
$160,000 - $175,000/year plus bonus potential based upon relevant experience
