The state-of-the-art production facility provides the tools and resources necessary for the most intricate, creative, and experimental winemaking objectives.
The Seasonal Winemaking Laboratory Intern plays a key role on the enology team during the harvest season. This hands-on position supports all laboratory and fermentation-related activities, providing an excellent opportunity to gain practical harvest experience in a dynamic winery environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable of demanding work, and eager to learn throughout a fast-paced harvest.
***Lunch will be provided Monday-Friday throughout harvest***
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor daily Brix and temperature of fermentation vessels
• Perform inoculations and nutrient additions
• Conduct tank and barrel sampling
• Assist with harvest maturity sampling and analysis
• Prepare and analyze laboratory samples
• Accurately enter data into Vintrace
• Maintain strict sanitation and safety protocols
• Provide support to cellar operations as needed
Duties may change based on operational needs during harvest.
Required Qualifications
• Coursework or extended education in chemistry, enology, or a related field
• At least one harvest, cellar, or laboratory experience preferred
• Ability to work full-time, including overtime, weekends, and holidays during harvest
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Basic math skills, including arithmetic, algebra, and unit conversions
• Authorized to work in the United States
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically strenuous tasks
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders and catwalks, and in confined spaces
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach overhead frequently
• Works with winery chemicals, gas fumes, hot water, steam, and equipment
• Exposure to loud noise levels and variable indoor/outdoor temperatures
• Reliable transportation required
