We are a small family-owned winery looking for a winery Chef to take our operations to the next level. We are rooted in our belief that wine is at the root of everything we do and are looking for someone to take on a culinary role to expand our offerings and level up our game for events. We are based in Sonoma and enjoy the little things in life, but that quality is above all we do in wine and food.
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Culinary Chef to take ownership of day-to-day kitchen execution at our Sonoma based winery. This role blends hands on culinary leadership with operational oversight-ideal for someone ready to set beyond the line and influence menu development, team performance, and the overall guest experience.
This position is expected to be creative and develop seasonal menus and education of Wine Educators on culinary parings. Essential Functions
Kitchen Leadership and Service Execution
•  Ability to work closely with and support the Winery and Winery Team in every aspect of our culinary program.
•  Lead the line during service, ensuring seamless coordination and high-level execution. Setting the pace, standard and tone for kitchen performance. Ensuring plate approval and owning quality control.

Menu Development and Execution
•  Delivering consistently exceptional food that complements our wine while leading a disciplined, efficient, and high performing kitchen. Ability to develop a strong knowledge of our wines and how they pair with food and seasonal produce and products from local Sonoma purveyors.
•  Execute a seasonal, wine driven menu with precision and consistency, collaborate on menu development, specials, and pairings aligned with the wineries vision and offerings
•  Continuously refine dishes based on guest feedback, product availability, and costing.

Operational
•  Oversee daily prep, station readiness, service flow. Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships.
•  Control food costing through portioning, waste reduction, and smart sourcing.

Team Leadership & Accountability
•  Ability to share our story through creative customer facing tasting and public and private events.
•  Ability to understand and comply with our culinary standards, maintain equipment and exceptional cleanliness standards.
•  Train, develop, mentor kitchen staff to elevate performance.
•  Hold Team members accountable to standards, systems, and expectations
•  Build a culture of ownership, urgency and professionalism
•  Ability to be a team member to winery staff, including, cellar, hospitality and fellow culinary team. Show and demonstrate timeliness in personal, email and phone responses.
Food Safety and Compliance
•  Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
•  Ensure kitchen cleanliness organization and inspection readiness at all times.

Job Requirements
•  1+ years in similar position and level of responsibility required
•  Ability to support Winery Operations and Events Manager, and mentor line cooks
•  Simultaneously manage daily tastings and special events needs
•  Strong culinary skills, a passion for fine wine and hospitality and a strong attention to detail
•  Assist with setup and breakdown in the kitchen, preparing food and educating our guests •  Owns kitchen and storage organization, inventory, and food preservation
•  Aid with daily baked goods production, recipe logging and other duties as needed
•  strong foundation in farm-to-table or wine focused cuisine
•  Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
•  Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
•  Knowledge of wine pairings and flavor profiles strongly preferred
•  Experience with menu costing, inventory systems, and kitchen operations
•  Food handler Manager Certification required
Physical Requirements
•  Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and evenings.
•  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
•  Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
•  Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
•  Stand for long periods of time
•  Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch or climb stairs
Job Type: Full-time/non-exempt
Compensation and Benefits:
The base pay scale offered for this position is $33.00- $37.00/hour.
This salary range represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. However, the actual pay rate will depend upon job-related factors such as overall qualifications, skills, experience, education, etc. The Company reserves the right to modify the range at any time.
