Position Summary
The Private Client Ambassador is a client-facing role responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships both at the Napa Estate and nationwide where clients live and spend their time. Through thoughtful outreach, strategic travel, and personalized in-home and small-format experiences, this role extends the presence of a highly regarded, luxury wine estate beyond the property in a way that feels natural, intentional, and aligned with the highest standards of hospitality.
This individual is both relational and disciplined, able to identify opportunities within the existing client base, cultivate new relationships through trusted networks, and guide clients into deeper engagement through membership and ongoing purchasing. Central to the role is the ability to communicate the story of the estate, its vineyards, and wines with clarity and authenticity, while planning and executing client engagement with care and intention.
Success in this role is reflected in the strength of relationships built, the consistency of engagement, and the ability to translate those relationships into measurable sales results.
Overview of Key Responsibilities
Private Client Engagement & On the Road Activation (~50%)
• Analyze the existing client database to identify and prioritize outreach opportunities based on engagement, geography, and potential for in-person interaction
• Engage these clients through targeted, personalized outreach with the objective of establishing in-person interaction where they live and spend their time
• Plan and execute client trips in key markets, hosting in-home tastings, private dinners, and small-format activations within clients’ homes, communities, and networks
• Ensure each trip is strategically planned and financially disciplined, with clear expectations for revenue, margin, and membership acquisition
• Expand private client database through referrals and introductions from existing clients, as well as new relationships developed while on the road
Hospitality Experiences & Hosting (~50%)
• Host private tasting experiences for clients and guests at Sullivan Rutherford Estate
• Convert each experience into membership acquisition and ongoing purchasing, with clear intent to drive long-term client value
• Confidently and accurately communicate the story of the estate, including our vineyards, winemaking philosophy, and history, in a way that is genuine and memorable
• Maintain and grow relationships beyond the visit through consistent follow-up and engagement
Margin Performance & Revenue Ownership
• Own individual performance with a focus on margin, client retention, and long-term value
• Maintain consistent and thoughtful follow-up to drive repeat business and sustained engagement
• Leverage allocations and limited offerings to deepen client connection and brand commitment
Qualifications
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a client-facing role within luxury hospitality, fine wine, or a related high-touch environment
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships that translate into ongoing purchasing and client loyalty
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to confidently represent the brand’s history, wine, and philosophy
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and plan travel with clear objectives and follow-through
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Ability to travel regularly throughout the country
• Role structure: 50% client engagement on the road and 50% at Sullivan Rutherford Estate
• Must be able to lift and transport 50lbs (a case of wine) on a repeated basis
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
