Under the direction of the Director of Sales, this position is responsible to represent, and increase the sales for all our brands in various states. Must have knowledge of Italian wines, regions and regulations. Responsible for daily contact with key on and off premise accounts, working with the distributor sales force, communicating needs and expectations in areas of allocations, depletions, marketing programs and product placement. Keep supervisor informed of critical information and trends in the marketplace. Attend trade events and special promotions, always acting as an ambassador for our company and wineries.
Critical Tasks:
• Market Sales Work (65%)
• Achieve sales plans by developing and maintaining strong relationships with key buyers.
• Increase on and off premise sales by establishing a presence in the market. Conduct regular work withs; set expectations with the distributor and represent us in a professional manner.
• Drive sales by providing education materials, seminars, and training for all accounts.
• Distributor Relations (25%)
• Communicate information and education in order to achieve sales goals.
• Conduct assessments of the distributor and their sales efforts
• Assist distributors to develop and cultivate story-telling ability to enhance sales of the portfolio.
• Participate in general sales team meetings.
• Miscellaneous (10%)
• Provide feedback to Sales Leadership and Marketing on market issues, opportunities, changes, gaps, challenges and competitive activity.
• Ensure timely submission of expense and weekly market recap reporting.
• Update job knowledge by educating yourself on all of our brands and what information you may need to relay to buyers.
Professional Requirements:
**** Must have knowledge of Italian wines and Italian wine regions. Italian speaking preferred, but not required. *****
Education/Experience: College degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of experience selling wines, with emphasis on the wines of Italy. Passion for and knowledge of Italian wines and wine laws. Training with CMS, WSET or comparable organization.
Skills: Must have excellent wine knowledge. Must have excellent communication capabilities with professional written and verbal communication skills. Public speaking and presentation skills, comfortable in front of large and small audiences. Good listening skills, and outstanding sales skills (follow-up, closing, overcoming objections). Good PC skills (Windows: Word/Excel). Must be self-motivated, be able to juggle multiple situations, and able to work independently. Must have integrity, be self-confident, and have an ability to build relationships. Understanding of the importance of providing outstanding customer service.
Physical: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends when applicable. Must be able to travel including overnight stays both domestic and international. Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
Other: Must have a valid Driver’s license in the state employed and must have automobile insurance.
