Job Description:

About Anomaly Vineyards:

Anomaly Vineyards is a boutique family-owned winery that specializes in the production of the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Our small winery is surrounded by our 8-acre Estate Vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains in Saint Helena, and we produce between 1,500 – 1,800 cases annually. Together, our team focuses on making balanced wines that represent our site. We work closely with one another and value collaboration, a drive to learn, working safely and efficiently, while having fun. We work to have a culture that is familial and productive - during harvest we often enjoy lunch together as a team and share wines from around the world that inspire us.

Job Description:

Interns will gain a broad harvest experience, involving all aspects of wine production. In the lead up to harvest, responsibilities will include sampling the estate vineyard blocks, assisting in the analysis of those samples (running Brix and pH), and preparing the winery and winemaking equipment for harvest. As harvest begins, interns will be working closely with the Winemaker and Cellar Master, and responsibilities will include - the sorting and processing fruit, sanitizing of winery equipment (tanks, pumps, fittings, etc.), the management and monitoring of fermentations (including inoculations, tank additions, cap management - pumpovers and punchdowns), operating of the press, barrel work (steaming, prepping and filling barrels, topping, racking) and more. We are passionate winemakers who love what we do and are more than happy to train you and teach you everything that we know.

Who You Are:

Our ideal candidate will have an interest in fine wine production, be a team player with a positive attitude, an appreciation that cleaning is a huge part of making great wine, and have a strong desire to learn on the job. Previous harvest experience is preferred, but not required. This is a 2-4 month full-time position with the expectation of overtime for several weeks (typical timing will begin in mid/late August and will run through mid-November). Candidates for the position must possess a strong work ethic, have a valid driver’s license, the ability to climb ladders and stairs, the ability to lift 50lbs (positioning of crush equipment, lifting full buckets of wine, lifting case goods, rolling barrels, etc).

Interested candidates should include their resume and a brief letter of introduction.
