The Korbel Vineyard and Winemaking team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Sugar Sampler to support vineyard sampling during the harvest season. This part-time, seasonal role reports to the Viticulturist/Grower Relations Representative and runs approximately from July through October. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the wine industry while working outdoors in the beautiful vineyards of the Russian River Valley and Lodi region. A company vehicle and ATV are provided for sampling duties. Schedule flexibility is required based on harvest timing, including early mornings.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect grape berry and cluster samples to monitor maturity, including Brix and pH measurements
• Assist with crop estimation by collecting cluster counts and bunch weights
• Travel to vineyard sites, including regular trips to the Lodi region (1–2 days per week)
• Deliver collected samples to the winemaking department in a timely manner
• Accurately record and enter sampling data
• Support daily vineyard operations and assist Grower Relations as needed
• Maintain a professional presence when interacting with growers and the public
• Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Enthusiasm for learning about vineyard operations and the wine industry
• Ability to work in outdoor vineyard conditions, including heat, cold, and uneven terrain
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to read maps and navigate vineyard locations
• Comfortable working early mornings and flexible hours during harvest
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and basic agricultural equipment
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Degree in Viticulture, Agriculture, or a related field preferred
• Previous vineyard or agricultural experience
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
