We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to support financial accuracy, cost controls, and operational efficiency within our winery operations.

Summary of Position

This role is responsible for cost accounting, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial analysis, with a strong focus on activity-based costing, variance analysis, and process improvement. The Cost Accountant will partner closely with operational leaders and provide meaningful financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

•  Establish, maintain, and analyze costs for labor, materials, and overhead; investigate and report cost variances

•  Determine inventory valuation and cost of goods sold using standard and activity-based costing methodologies

•  Maintain bulk wine inventory costing, reconciliations, and production cost tracking

•  Partner with department leaders to prepare annual operating and capital budgets; analyze budget-to-actual results

•  Conduct detailed cost and profitability analyses; recommend operational and system improvements

•  Review and approve production-related invoices with proper account coding

•  Manage Accounts Payable processes, including invoice entry, approvals, and statement reconciliations; provide support to Accounts Receivable

•  Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports

•  Provide financial reporting and insights to executive leadership to support strategic planning

Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

•  Experience in cost accounting required; wine or manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred

•  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

•  Experience with ERP or winery accounting systems (Vintrace, Xero preferred)

•  Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

•  Excellent communication skills and ability to work professionally and collaboratively across departments

Rate of Pay: $81,000-$130,000 depending on qualifications
