POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Enologist, the Laboratory Technician will perform routine juice and wine analysis, including Brix, pH, TA, NH3, PAN, RS, ML, AC, Alcohol, Free & Total SO2. This position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
•  Analyze samples in a timely manner via the Y15, auto titrator & DMA
•  Follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols
•  Record results in proper systems (LIMS)
•  Maintain wine analysis in Winemaker's database (BIMS)
•  Maintain cellar work orders in Winemakers database (BIMS)
•  Maintain harvest schedules in Winemakers database (BIMS)
•  Monitor tank and barrel fermentations daily
•  Collect representative samples from tanks and barrels
•  Assist in bottling prep and QC
•  Participate in lab general housekeeping
•  Communicate effectively with supervisor and other staff

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail. A science degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science field with previous lab experience is preferred but not required. Previous experience with the Y15 autoanalyzer is a bonus. Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and varying schedules from mid August until the end of December.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to stand for extended periods of time, routinely required to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and able to lift and move up to 50lbs of weight.

The successful applicant must provide their own transportation.

WAGE TRANSPARENCY:

The base pay for this role ranges from $23.50 - $27.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
