Job Description
Progeny seeks a dynamic and self-motivated wine professional to join our hospitality team. The Hospitality & Sales position requires a person who will create excellent educational, first-class experiences for guests visiting the winery, along with performing administrative responsibilities required to support the Hospitality Team.
Applicants must be effective self-starters, confident in their ability to sell premium wine, and work in a team-oriented environment. This position is responsible for hosting tastings, providing memorable experiences for our guests, and developing new relationships with clients in-person, via phone and through email outreach. Our Hospitality & Sales Associate also must handle administrative tasks as needed. All these tasks require a high degree of professionalism that reflects the Progeny brand. As a member of a small team, a can-do attitude and willingness to jump in where needed becomes essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Host memorable and educational in-person wine and culinary experiences for guests, conveying the Progeny story and while driving wine sales and membership sign ups.
• Accurately describe the culinary aspects of an experience. Service experience is a plus.
• Assist with wine tasting set up, break down and clean-up of the day.
• Perform opening and closing responsibilities of the Hospitality Center.
• Detailed and accurate data entry with order, reservations, and customer information.
• Professionally answer email and telephone inquiries regarding tasting appointments, visitor information and general customer service.
• Schedule appointments accurately and within established booking guidelines.
• Maintain the appearance of the facility, ensuring areas are functional, clean, and presentable.
• Maintain Tasting Room wines and supplies in stock on a weekly basis.
• Identify opportunities to improve guest experiences and increase sales.
• Attend off-site networking events as needed.
• Participate in and support onsite and offsite winery events. Overnight domestic travel may be required.
• Assist with monthly inventory.
• Assist with shipping returns.
• Assist management team with administrative projects as needed.
Qualifications
• 2+ years related experience preferred in sales, customer service or hospitality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Highly motivated, reliable, organized and detail oriented.
• Commitment to excellence, high standards and working effectively with a team in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Knowledge of wines, winemaking, and ability to tell the story that promotes loyalty and sales.
• Excellent communication, customer service and sales skills, both written and verbal.
• Competency in Point-of-Sale systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, some holidays, as well as overtime as needed.
• Maintain a professional appearance appropriate for a luxury estate.
• Must be 21 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift 40 pounds repeatedly and safely.
Compensation:
• Hourly compensation commensurate with experience, competitive insurance (health, vision, dental, disability, life), IRA with employee match, and paid vacation.
