Position Summary:
The Harvest Barrel Enologist will work closely with the Laboratory and Winemaking team ensuring quality of our Chardonnay Barrel ferments from the juice stage, throughout fermentation. This position will expose you to aspects of the laboratory, barrel, and cellar operations along with our winemaking process. The Harvest Barrel Enologist should be dependable, detailed orientated, enthusiastic, and curious to dive into winemaking

Essential Functions:
•  Monitor barrel fermenting juice and wine for the completion of both primary and secondary fermentations.
•  Work closely with the Barrel and Winemaking team to prescribe additions to ensure healthy fermentations.
•  Track and analyze lots designated for barrel ferments through each stage of the winemaking process.
•  Perform analysis on grape juice, barrel ferments, and finished wines.
•  Accurately analyze, track and document all lots in accordance with SOPs.
•  Ensure grape juice and fermentations meet quality standards before barreling down.
•  Conduct sensory analysis on ferments and communicate findings with Winemakers daily.
•  Collect tank and barrel samples for analysis and tasting.
•  Calibrate and standardize laboratory equipment and reagents.
•  Receive grape trucks and perform grape analysis when needed.
•  Data entry.

Qualifications:
•  Wine or Viticulture-related degree or certificate desired.
•  Knowledge of lab analysis and methodology.
•  Must be quality focused, punctual, and reliable.
•  Ability to self-start and prioritize.
•  Must be team oriented and willing to assist others.
•  Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed during harvest.
•  Ability to work independently with minimum supervision when required.
•  Excellent communication and organizational skills.
•  Adheres to all health and safety protocols put in place.

Working Conditions:
Work takes place in winery production facility environments including cellars, barrel rooms, tank farms, laboratories, bottling facilities, and offices. The lab contains hazardous chemicals. Regular exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moisture, cleaning chemicals, and production equipment. Computer-based tasks are in a normal office environment.

Physical Requirements:
Extended hours required during harvest, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift may extend standard workweeks to support fermentation management, fruit processing, and operational demands. Must be able to frequently lift and carry a minimum of 55 pounds and perform prolonged walking, sitting, bending, twisting, and standing, as well as safely working at heights on barrel ladders and catwalks. The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and key responsibilities of this position.

Compensation:
$21 per hour, and $500 end-of-Harvest Bonus
Individual offers are made contingent upon a candidate's prior experience and education level as they relate to the role. Job offers are contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment screenings, which include a standard 8-panel drug test and a comprehensive background check.
