Position Summary:
The Wagner Family of Wine (WFW) is looking for a Retail Chain Brand Ambassador that is a highly motivated, well organized, self-starting individual. This position is responsible for coordinating sales opportunities and supporting assigned chains by engaging with distributors, customers, and consumers at the point of purchase. Creative programming, events, and tasting activities will drive sales and provide customer connectivity. Face-to-face relationships with: Beverage Stewards, Store Management, decision makers and distributor merchandising teams are key. This person must understand the Wagner family background, be skilled at relaying tasting notes, family stories, successes, and what makes Caymus the iconic winery that it is. This position reports directly to the National Off-Premise Manager.
Duties:
• Knowledgeable about wines, accurately communicates family story, describes wines, winemaking techniques, history, appellations, and unique aspects of portfolio.
• Takes the initiative for self-development in the areas of our wines, brands, and family history.
• Build strong relationships with wine personnel at retail chains – including Beverage Stewards, Wine Managers and Store Directors to become the wine supplier of choice within each account.
• Educate wine personnel within each account on every authorized SKU.
• Host demos and consumer education events at accounts as needed. May include Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Ability to use trends and Nielsen data to sell in features and displays within accounts.
• Conduct monthly merchandising team meetings with distributor reps to educate and promote Wagner Family of Wine portfolio.
• Keep an active pricing database to ensure correct retails in every chain.
• Make effective, timely, and well thought out decisions based on the WFW culture, values, and marketing plans.
• Advise WFW Retail Chain Team of key trends and competitive activity in the marketplaces and opportunities to grow the WFW portfolio.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate both internally and externally.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Keep management informed of critical information and trends in the marketplace.
• Articulate and impactful in group presentations and meetings.
• Bring passion for fine wine.
• Live within prescribed territory with proximity to major selling markets.
• Travel to National and Divisional meetings.
• Be a solid “team player” and embrace the Wagner Family of Wine culture.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma.
• Minimum 2-years of wine industry experience in a similar position or at a restaurant/retail. required with a distributor or supplier.
Working Conditions:
• Ability to travel and work some weekends and holidays. Position MUST be based within the assigned territory. No relocation assistance is provided.
Physical Requirements:
• Operate a desktop computer using keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items
• Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
• Sit and stand for long periods of time
• Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch or climb
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
