Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is seeking to add a Mechanic Level 3 to our team. Mechanic III plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of bottling line equipment and facility systems. This senior-level maintenance position is responsible for performing advanced preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. The Mechanic III operates and maintains bottling equipment including fillers, cappers, and labelers, while also supporting broader facility maintenance tasks such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration. This position keeps detailed maintenance records, assists with inventory management, and responds promptly to urgent repairs and project work. The role may include driving between locations and supporting general facilities upkeep as needed. This is a hands-on role that supports production reliability, equipment longevity, and overall plant safety, making it a critical member of the maintenance and operations team.
Essential Responsibilities
Performs regular preventative maintenance and inspections on bottling line equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Keeps detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Operates and maintains all bottling line equipment, including fillers, cappers, labelers, and other automated systems.
Performs repair, modification and preventative maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities and equipment.
Works on assigned projects; responds to urgent maintenance calls.
Maintains equipment, equipment warranties and maintenance records.
Diagnoses and repairs equipment malfunctions, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic problems.
Assists in maintaining production equipment spare parts inventory.
Performs general mechanical work connected with various facilities projects such as welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration and HVAC.
Follows blueprints, drawings and general instructions to plan and layout assignments.
Assembles and installs mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and systems such as production machinery/tools, conveyor systems, storage racks, tanks, facility equipment and the like.
Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, structural components etc.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems. May perform non-certified welding, wiring and simple machining operations incidental to repair and maintenance tasks.
Drive company vehicles when required (between locations or to pickup parts).
Uses a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools safely.
Assists with general carpentry and moving of equipment, materials and furniture.
Follows shop safety practices and housekeeping practices.
Other duties, as assigned by management.
Requirements
The successful candidate’s background includes:
5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems effectively.
Basic mechanical skills and understanding of equipment maintenance.
Proficiency in using computer-based systems for work order management and equipment monitoring.
Understanding and adherence to safety procedures related to equipment operation and maintenance.
Requires flexible schedule for shift changes and overtime - during harvest season.
Required to possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Requires skilled knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry tools, procedures and safety.
Ability to read and write and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings and perform basic math.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Knowledgeable in OSHA, state and federal safety regulations.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and understand error messages on machinery.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stretch, reach, grasp, crouch, turn, and kneel.
