Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is seeking to add a Bottling Line Lead to our team. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, all phases of bottling line work; setup, operation, troubleshooting, and clean up on any of our production lines (Charmat, Tirage, Disgorging, and Still). This position will provide leadership to others and assign work.
Essential Responsibilities
Training, Team Supervision, and Mentorship
Supervise, mentor, train, and support the bottling team across the primary assigned production line, providing performance feedback and developing personnel for long-term success.
Assist with maintaining the team’s schedule, including ensuring adequate coverage.
Promote consistency, proficiency, and accountability in team performance.
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Ensure adherence to, and training on, all food safety, GMP, and company standards.
Assist with creating goal assessments and conducting reviews.
Creates an environment of teamwork.
Report all incidents of personal injury, property, and equipment damage, and prepare and submit required reports.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of hazardous material and safety procedures, assuring adherence by staff.
Diligently adhere to all safety practices, SOP’s, and company policies and ensure team compliance.
Documentation and Compliance
Ensures that all packaging supplies, wine, and dosage match work orders.
Complete work orders, bottling packets, and other paperwork as needed.
Assist in the management of production and production goals.
Assists with review of progress, monitoring of results, and instruction.
Provide leadership and training to less skilled employees, support change management and continuous improvement efforts, and projects
Bottling Line Operations
Participates in the set-up, operation, and clean-up of the bottling lines.
Performs all levels of bottling line and equipment operations. Responds and troubleshoots error codes on all three bottling lines. Including, but not limited to: Disgorger, Filler, Wirehooder, Corker, Screw capper, Shaker, Washer, Neck Freezer, Foiler, Labeler, Case Packer, Case Sealer, Palletizer.
Rotates between various functions on the bottling line, including those generally done by the General Line Techs, Skilled Line Techs, and Advanced Line Techs; glass dumping, bottle/label inspection, hand packing and stacking, hand casing and uncasing, and transferring bottles from bins to cages.
Works with Cellar, Lab, and Warehouse staff to ensure wine and bottling supplies are readily available and line production meets client specifications.
In coordination with the Maintenance team, responsible for daily post-op maintenance or changeover tasks on bottling equipment.
Interact with the Maintenance team to document and correct equipment malfunctions.
Identifies, communicates, and assists with the implementation of process improvement opportunities for operational efficiencies and wine quality.
Assists Maintenance and QC with line setup and troubleshooting.
Assists with all facility clean-up activities.
Uses downtime to proactively clean up or assist other team members.
Supports other departments (Cellar, Warehouse, etc.) as needed and assigned by Management.
Other tasks, on any production line, as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
A successful candidates background will include:
Previous experience on a bottling line, 7+ years’ experience.
Forklift experience preferred.
Must be punctual and maintain good attendance.
Ability to learn and adapt to changing conditions.
Ability to work safely and accurately in a fast-paced environment is required.
Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and work at catwalk heights of 25 feet.
Must be able to work nights, overtime and weekends.
Ability to read and understand work orders.
Hours: Full Time + Overtime as needed.
Ability to work individually and within team to achieve daily production goals.
Experience with changeovers on all pieces of bottling equipment (filler, labeler, rinser, and foiler) preferred.
Self-motivated.
Ability to problem solve independently.
Mechanical background and ability.
