Job Description:

Rack & Riddle, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the US, is looking to add a Planning Manager to our team. 



The Planning Manager manages all planning of Charmat and Still wine bottling, primary focused on our Healdsburg operations.  Responsible for aligning Rack & Riddle production schedules and processes to meet client’s requirements while optimizing efficiency for all phases of the operation. Coordinates all planning and scheduling with Winemaking, Business Development, Sales, Logistics and Warehousing.  Oversees the development of methods to allocate and control resources and materials effectively.  Establishes monitoring tools and processes to identify and plan for issues with waste, inefficiencies, and inventory.  Recommends improvements to planning technology and processes. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective planning methodologies and best practices.  



Essential Responsibilities: 

Works with Business Development, Client Service Specialist and directly with clients to schedule client requests in an efficient manner.  
Develop long range production plan for all Private and Control label items based on demand plan.  
In conjunction with PLCL sales team, determine appropriate safely stock and inventory balances for new item launch and product maintenance.
Coordinates production operations in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability.
Works with Geyserville planner to balance capacity between sites.  
Oversees Production Coordinators, production orders, spec sheets, shop floor documentation, inventory management and Net Suite transactions relevant to areas of responsibility.
Collaborates with Logistics Coordinator for movement of packaging requirements for 7 to 10 day window.  
Timely communication of post- production data to internal (Business Development, Finance, Winemaking) and external customers.  
Works with Winemaking and Cellars to validate wine readiness.  
Leads weekly schedule review with cross-functional team for Charmat and Still production.
Promptly addresses and resolves production issues to minimize delays in production; informing relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
Works with warehouse supervisor to validate packaging prior to bottling as well as disposition post use. 
Makes recommendations and collaborates with Winemaking, Cellars, Warehousing, Suppliers and Business Development in the planning and coordination of all production activities to ensure optimum efficiency and quality.  
Works with procurement to forecast and secure delivery on selected materials to meet bottling demands.  
Works with Maintenance on scheduled and unscheduled downtime to meet production demand.
Develop long range plans based on sales projections from all channels for evaluating capacity.
Develop status and performance reports, submitting them to management in a timely manner.
Demonstrates leadership and professionalism and serves as a role model.
Plays an instrumental role in the development of a company culture that is conducive to maximizing productivity and efficiency, promoting open communication, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.   

 

Requirements: 

A successful candidate’s background will include: 

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business management, or related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of production planning experience in the wine industry.
Experienced in Production Planning software and ERP systems.
Sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and related software.
Well rounded knowledge of major aspects of production, scheduling workflow and capacity planning.  
Ability to evaluate multiple sources of data to develop optimum execution.  
Familiar with winemaking software and TTB compliance.  
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) accreditation or other relevant certification is advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills.
