Hospitality Lead

Job Description:

The Hospitality Lead will execute on & offsite EVOO and value-added farm product tastings; driving sales & membership. They will interface with farm visitors and tasting guests, conduct sales transactions, and provide general admin support to the team as needed. Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness; opens and closes registers and handles customer issues with a warm, calm demeanor. Supervises Farm Shop & Market Associates & coordinates scheduling for hospitality/sales associates. Anticipated work schedule: Tuesday - Saturday or Wednesday – Sunday, typically daytime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as brand representative and first point of contact to assist guests, offering a warm welcome to our farm or outside event and farmers market guests; ability to engage with the public with ease, proactively engaging with guests in a friendly and educational manner, both on and off-site.

Lead Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness;
- Generate relevant reports & assist with maintenance of POS BOH, including categorizing & pricing
- Supervising Farm Shop & Farmers Market staff, scheduling, breaks, etc.
- Manage online reservation system
- Mentoring staff through training, education & demonstrating leadership
- Maintain & update training documents as required
- Oversee scheduling for hospitality & market staff

Tasting Room Lead for Apple & Olive Oil Tastings, Tours, and Sales
- Host educational tastings; sell to visitors during Farm Shop hours
- Set up tastings & tours
- Correspond with prospective guests via phone, email, online reservations & walk-ins
- Coordinate large group & private tour experiences
- Inventory Farm Shop products quarterly
- Ensure cleanliness and aesthetics of retail spaces, front and back of house and workstations
- Handles and rectifies customer service issues or complaints
- Opens, closes registers; rectifies cash count issues
- Merchandizing & refreshing displays seasonally

Outside Events & markets, including supporting activities involved in the planning, implementation and set up of events including securing, and packing all event materials; set up, work events and closing/cleaning

Farmers Market Coordination & Logistics
- Create pack lists & maintain inventory of materials & equipment
- Update market collateral as needed
- Coordinate with Sales & Marketing Manager on featured products/promotions
- Logistical coordination, in preparation for & on market days, including staffing & scheduling drivers
- Assist market associates with pack-out as needed
- Assist with setup/breakdown, market sales & representing brand as needed
- Track sales data & market reports in coordination with Farmers Market Associates

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s desired in sales/marketing/business or similar; or equivalent relevant experience
- 1-2 years Sales/marketing/event coordination or customer service experience required
- 1-2 years Supervisory experience desired
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Possess high level skill set in organization, time management, multi-tasking, and problem solving
- Ability to prioritize, efficiency with process, and attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Ability to maintain calm, handle details, and multi-task in a busy, noisy environments
- Intermediate math skills with ability to accurately track event metrics such as guest count, mailing list sign-ups and event recaps
- Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance and must be insurable under the Gold Ridge Organic Farms auto policy
- Must possess current California food safety certification (GROF will help facilitate)

Desired Skills
- Ability to operate Square POS system including generating reports & ability to learn new POS systems
- Familiarity with Tock or other online reservation platforms
- Experience with Mac OSX & competency with MS Office programs preferred
- Inventory management experience
- Ability to engage with the public in a personable, approachable manner; must be comfortable speaking in large and small groups
- Responsible and reliable with professional demeanor and presentation
- Experience with and/or passionate about organic farming, gourmet foods and organic products
- Experience with farmers markets and/or boutique retail sales highly desirable
- Experience in wine education or food sensory tastings/tours highly desirable

- Ability to work in an open office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to travel and attend events at various sites.
- Ability to work in an outdoor setting in the elements for extended periods
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Position includes extensive standing and walking, and considerable bending
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
