JOB SUMMARY
With a strong focus on providing outstanding customer service, the Tasting Room Manager is a leadership role responsible for managing the guest experience and supporting the Director On-Premises DTC with 90% on-floor presence, managing the TR team. This individual creates a culture of excellent service, motivates and sets up the team for success, ensuring all sales and hospitality goals are met. The Tasting Room Manager may be required to step into any role in the tasting room as required by business conditions. The Tasting Room Manager fosters a positive work ethic and high-performance standard by leading by example.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•  Upholds a positive and collegial atmosphere in the Tasting Room at all times
•  Promotes and ensures excellent hospitality delivery while ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, such as alcoholic beverage service, credit card handling, wage, and hour compliance for non-exempt employees, etc.
•  Supervises tasting room floor operations, managing the flow of service and incoming guests and Tasting Room Host table assignments, performing and overseeing opening and closing procedures, daily cash handling, and inventory control
•  Performs monthly check-in meetings with the staff to review sales, Wine Club signups, hospitality, and service
•  Performs daily huddles with staff to review reservations, sales goals, and flow of operation
•  Ensures wine shipping orders are tracked, inputted, and scheduled accurately and in a timely manner
•  Schedules, supervises, and motivates tasting room staff, modeling Alpha Omega sales and service standards
•  Leads and directs operations to meet the tasting room revenue goals and maintains daily sales tracking and reporting
•  Ensure that the tasting room's appearance and housekeeping standards are to Alpha Omega standards
•  Coordinates with vendors and contractors to schedule repairs, source materials, and ensure proper inventory supplies
•  Performs all supervisorial functions in collaboration with the Director On-Premises DTC in the hiring, orientation, training, and direction of all staff in the tasting room
•  Performs weekly timecard reviews and edits, and ensures the tasting room team is up to date with timecard approvals
•  Collaborates with the Payroll Manager to review bi-weekly gratuity, Sales, and Wine Club commission reports to ensure accurate data is tracked and entered
•  Promotes and sells wines and merchandise by assisting guests in making tasting and purchasing decisions, and manages weekly wine, merchandise, and supply inventory, including transferring/ordering, shipping, and receiving of products
•  Performs tasting flight menu edits and changes effectively and on time
•  Ensures wines are transferred and in inventory to match menu updates
•  Ensures product SKUs and promotional bundles are active and up-to-date in the POS system
•  Expertly performs hospitality functions such as VIP hosting and Club, and private tasting experiences
•  Performs guest service recoveries to promote customer retention and tracks all service-related issues
•  Tracks and reports team near-miss incidents, injuries, and all guest incidents
•  Provides advice to the Director On-Premises DTC on strategy, staff performance, and customer feedback to continually improve the operation
•  Executes responsibilities respectfully and ethically, in accordance with Alpha Omega’s policies and applicable laws
•  Performs other duties as assigned by the Director On-Premises DTC

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
•  Strong customer service skills and capabilities.
•  Solid knowledge of federal and state employment law as it relates to wine service and shipping
•  Knowledge of retail methods and practices
•  Knowledge of winemaking practices, varietals, and local winemaking history
•  Ability to provide impactful, supportive leadership and supervision to all team members
•  Detail-oriented with a strong follow-up initiative
•  Ability to read, interpret, and implement safety regulations, company policies and procedures, sales goals and reports, and other documents
•  Knowledge of and adherence to current COVID safety protocols and mandates
•  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization
•  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, basic to intermediate proficiency with MS Word and Excel
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
•  Must be available to work off shifts (afternoons and nights), weekends, and holidays as required by the operation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
•  Experience: Minimum of three years of wine sales experience, including one year in a supervisory or lead role
•  Certified Sommelier, CSW, CWE, WSET Level 2 – preferred
•  Valid California driver’s license
•  21 years or older
