Vineyard Manager

Hollow Ridge Vineyards — North Kingstown, Rhode Island

Hollow Ridge Vineyards is seeking a Vineyard Manager to join us at an exciting stage in our journey. We are a boutique winery currently in start-up mode, building a vineyard and wine program rooted in stewardship of the land, thoughtful farming, and a long-term vision for growth. We will be operating a tasting room, production facility and small farm store that caters to local New England products with a focus on Rhode Island.

What begins as a small, carefully managed vineyard will expand over time into a larger estate operation. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building something meaningful from the ground up and wants to play a foundational role in shaping the vineyard and farming practices of a new winery.

Hollow Ridge Vineyards is located in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, where we are developing a vineyard, winery, and farm retail concept focused on quality agriculture, regenerative practices, and community connection. The vineyard program will emphasize careful site management, soil health, and long-term sustainability as we establish our estate vines.

Position Overview

The Vineyard Manager will oversee the establishment, development, and long-term management of the vineyard, working closely with ownership as we plant, grow, and refine our estate vineyard program. This position has the potential to include housing.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both fieldwork and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

* Oversee vineyard establishment including site preparation, planting, trellising, irrigation, and infrastructure
* Manage seasonal vineyard operations including pruning, canopy management, crop thinning, pest and disease management, and harvest coordination
* Monitor and manage vine health, soil conditions, and vineyard performance
* Develop and implement sustainable and regenerative farming practices
* Manage vineyard equipment and maintenance schedules
* Hire, train, and supervise seasonal vineyard crews as the operation grows
* Maintain detailed vineyard records including crop estimates and vineyard inputs
* Collaborate with ownership on varietal selection, vineyard expansion, and long-term vineyard planning

Qualifications

* Experience managing vineyards or significant vineyard leadership experience
* Strong understanding of cool-climate viticulture
* Knowledge of vineyard equipment and mechanization
* Ability to plan vineyard operations while also performing hands-on fieldwork
* Experience with pest, disease, and canopy management strategies
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and take initiative in a start-up environment
