Vintage Assistant Wine Maker
Aurora Vineyards is a producer of high-quality Pinot noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and other red and white varieties, located in Aurora Oregon. Our 30-acre vineyard is planted to 9 different varieties with vines ranging in age from 1 to 24 years old. We are finishing construction on a new 5,000 sqft facility to support production from our increased acreage.
We are seeking a talented, driven individual to assist in the finishing of the previous vintage and production of the 2026 harvest. This position would begin in mid-April with onboarding and training before our spring bottling at the end of the month and continue through the end of the year. This position will assist and support all aspects of wine production and have opportunities to explore other parts of the business, including working in the vineyard and tasting room. You will work directly with the winemaker and vineyard manager to produce the best wines possible and provide input on production planning.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
-Cleaning and sanitation
-All routine wine maintenance like topping and SO2ing
- Lab work and analysis
-Organization and maintenance of the winery and equipment
-Maturity sampling
-Fruit processing
-Fermentation and cap management
- Additions to tanks and barrels
- Barrel cleaning, sanitation and repair
-Qualitative and sensory analysis on wines
- All other duties as assigned
-Ability to work independently
Minimum Qualifications
-2 Harvest Seasons
-Ability to work from April to December
-ability and willingness to work long hours.
- Experience in lab analysis
-Experience qualitatively analyzing wines
-Forklift experience
-Flexibility and willingness to work hard!
Preferred Qualifications:
-A degree in Enology, chemistry, viticulture or a related field
-Formal training in wine tasting such as WSET
-An OLCC server’s permit
-3 or more harvests
-Conversational Spanish
Working Conditions and Physical requirements:
This position involves prolonged exposure to a range of weather conditions, loud noises, toxic and hazardous chemicals, and working near potentially dangerous machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment be provided and safety measurements will always be taken. Frequent walking, sitting, standing and lifting and moving up to 60 lbs. Will occur. Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. Must have flexible scheduling and be willing to work extended hours during the harvest season.
