POSITION SUMMARY
Opus One Winery is seeking a Harvest Vineyard Intern to join our team for the 2026 season. The role is a vineyard-focused position that works closely with both the vineyard and laboratory teams to support all pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest activities. Key responsibilities include berry sampling for crop estimation and juice analysis, data entry, virus mapping and testing, and conduct pressure chamber measurements as needed. We are committed to providing a safe, educational, and engaging work environment where interns gain hands-on experience with day-to-day vineyard operations that directly contribute to wine quality.
This is a temporary position anticipated to commence in mid-July and is anticipated to last for approximately 5 months, subject to harvest conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collect and count cluster and berry samples for crop estimation
• Conduct stem and leaf water potential measurements to support vine stress monitoring
• Gather berry samples from designated vineyard blocks for maturity tracking
• Process berry maturity samples in the laboratory
• Enter field and laboratory data accurately using AgCode
• Perform basic analytical measurements, including berry weights, °Brix, and OenoFoss assessments
• Create and update vineyard block maps
• Collect cluster weights during harvest to support yield analysis
• Identify and scout for grapevine viruses in vineyard blocks
• Flag and map virus affected vines for ongoing monitoring
• Conduct laboratory virus testing, including LAMP assays
• Track, organize, and report virus testing results
• Collaborate closely with viticulture, research, and laboratory teams
• Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must possess a High School diploma
• Desire to work in the vineyard and lab with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and prioritize attention to detail. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred
• Individual must have an interest in viticulture and possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Opus One Winery
Must be able to perform quality work, safely and consistently with minimum supervision or direction. Use proper safety equipment and safety procedures. Ability to comprehend the consequences of various problem situations and to refer them to the appropriate people for resolution.

Working Conditions/ Hazards:
Work is mainly performed in a Vineyard/Winery/Cellar/Lab and in the vineyards. The individual is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles relative to normal Cellar and Lab processes. Noise levels are usually moderate to loud. Occasionally works near moving machinery parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.

• Follow all company policies and procedures including job safety, safety rules and regulations.
• Assist management to provide safe and healthy working conditions at all times.
• Immediately report all unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, and illnesses to the Safety Manager and your supervisor.

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation: $20.00-$23.00 USD hourly
