Cinder Winery is seeking a Cellar Lead to assist the winemaking team with the smooth and efficient running of our 12,000 cases winery.
Join us for an exciting opportunity to make world-class wine in the beautiful, small city of Boise. Cinder and Laissez Faire are our brands, with all winemaking happening in our urban winery, 10 minutes from downtown Boise. We make 12,000 cases per year from local, Snake River Valley vineyards about 1 hour away. We also make a varying amount of wine for custom crush clients. We are innovative and curious craftsmen who strive for excellence in a work environment that is fun and supportive but results driven. Our cellar operates on 6S manufacturing methodology and our company on Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).

JOB SUMMARY
The responsibility of the Cellar Lead is to ensure all operations and processes are performed safely, accurately and efficiently. The Cellar Lead will foster a teamwork environment that supports the company’s financial and operational goals.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Must have extremely high standards for cleanliness, professionalism, attention to detail and work ethic. Must be engaged and curious about wine. Must be a leader; able to lead, manage and hold accountable a cellar team of about 3-6 people and growing. Must be a team player; able to coordinate efforts with others on the winemaking team and sales team. Must be able to be held accountable for their performance. Must be hungry for professional achievement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain a clean and safe winery and property environment.
Check with Winemakers on a daily basis to determine shift priorities and tasks.
Assign work to cellar workers, monitoring activity throughout the day.
Maintain awareness of schedule targets and make adjustments to staffing when necessary to meet financial and production objectives.
Serve as the primary trainer of full-time and temporary employees, training them to achieve and maintain performance standards and ensure adherence to the winery’s written processes and SOPs.
Perform as a working lead, stepping in to assist in cellar tasks as needed to meet financial and operational objectives and to maintain 6S standards.
Provide timely and effective communication to management about any performance or operational issues.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintenance, communicating findings to management.
Conduct frequent safety and cleanliness inspections of winery facilities and crew practices and communicate findings to management.
Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work related functions on time and prepared.
Meet agreed-upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
$22-25 per hour wages and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, Simple IRA with 3% company match, paid time off, monthly wine stipend, employee discount and opportunity for performance-based bonus. Base salary will be determined by factors such experience, skill and education.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment including but not limited to: pumps, press, destemmer, cross flow filter, bottling line, pallet jacks, forklifts, trailers, trucks, glycol cooling systems, and building mechanical systems.
Must be able to use technology fluidly including but not limited to: text, email, computer, copiers, Google Drive, and shared calendars and be able to learn a variety of apps used like Innovint and OnX.
Must be able to perform all other duties as assigned by management.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Warehouse and outdoor environments; may be subjected to loud noise, cold or hot temperature and weather extremes. Warehouse is conjoined with the Tasting Room therefore a clean, professional appearance and demeanor is required. Occasional overtime may be required as per the business needs. 6 days per week required during September and October. Vacation blackout during September and October.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manual dexterity, visual acuity, reaching, bending, standing, sitting, and frequent lifting, moving up to 50 pounds, standing and/or moving for up to 12 hours per day and safely climbing ladders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
5 years experience in wine production.
Citizenship of the USA or work visa.
Ability to speak and write in English.
High school diploma or GED.
Certified forklift operator preferred.
Demonstrated computer skills.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Reliable transportation to work.
