Korbel Champagne Cellars, located in the beautiful Russian River Valley, has been producing California Champagne in Sonoma County since 1882. With a long-standing commitment to quality, safety, and craftsmanship, we are proud to offer rewarding career opportunities in a unique and historic setting.
We are seeking a motivated CAD/CAM Intern to join our dynamic manufacturing team. This hands-on internship focuses on using Autodesk Fusion 360 for 3D modeling, rapid prototyping via 3D printing, and preparing designs for machining on our Haas CNC mills and **Haas lathes. You'll support the design and iteration of industrial parts, custom fixtures, tooling, and production line modifications, bridging the gap from digital concept to physical prototype and machined production parts. The pay scale for this role is $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience, and there is potential for the position to transition into a full-time opportunity based on performance and business need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create and refine precise 3D models and assemblies in Fusion 360 for industrial components, prototypes, jigs, fixtures, brackets, and production line support hardware.
• Use Fusion 360's Manufacturing workspace to generate toolpaths (CAM) for Haas CNC mills and lathes, including 2.5/3-axis milling, turning, and basic multi-axis operations where applicable.
• Post-process Fusion 360 setups to generate G-code (.nc files) using official Haas post processors (from Autodesk's Post Library, e.g., generic Haas NGC or machine-specific variants).
• Manage file transport and preparation: Export neutral formats (STEP, IGES, STL for 3D printing) and ensure seamless handoff of models/toolpaths from prototyping to CNC production.
• Prepare and iterate prototypes on in-house 3D printers (FDM, SLA, SLS/MJF) to validate designs before committing to Haas machining.
• Assist in updating production line layouts, custom tooling designs, and documentation (drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions) within Fusion 360.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and shop floor teams to incorporate feedback, apply GD&T, and optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM).
• Perform basic troubleshooting of CAM setups, post-processing issues, and file compatibility for Haas Next Generation Control (NGC).
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 (CAD modeling, assemblies, drawings, and especially the Manufacturing/CAM environment).
• Hands-on experience (or strong coursework) generating toolpaths and post-processing to output G-code for CNC machines, preferably with Haas equipment.
• Familiarity with Haas-specific workflows, including downloading/using official **Haas post processors from Autodesk's library (e.g., Haas NGC milling/lathe/ mill-turn posts).
• Understanding file formats and interchange: .f3d (Fusion native), STL (for 3D printing), STEP/IGES/Parasolid (neutral exchange), .nc (G-code output).
• Basic knowledge of 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA/DLP, SLS/MJF) for functional prototyping.
• Exposure to GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerances, and design for CNC machining.
• Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn manufacturing processes (milling, turning, fixturing).
• Currently pursuing or recently completing a degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Prior experience operating or programming Haas CNC machines (VF series mills, ST lathes, etc.).
• Exposure to other CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor) or CAM software.
• Experience with large assemblies, factory layouts, or production line modifications.
