Sales and Hospitality Coordinator
Description
The sales and hospitality coordinator reports to the direct sales manager. The coordinator also works closely with the vice president of sales and marketing. The coordinator will present the brand at tastings in the tasting room and at other consumer and trade venues such as in-store tastings, event spaces, and restaurants. The coordinator will help with shipping, packing, and other wine club and vineyard house duties. The coordinator will assist with events, merchandising, marketing, and social media as needed. The sales coordinator may be selected to represent the brand in the national market with proven experience in markets as needed.
Requirements
Education: The coordinator should have college coursework in business, sales, marketing, or similar subjects. A college degree in one of these fields would be preferred.
Experience: The coordinator should have two to five years of experience in the wine business in tasting rooms, sales, or events. Experience with the listed duties below will support the application. Any other activity that proves the ability to connect with customers, get along with co-workers, and communicate knowledge of and enjoyment of wine will be preferred. Experience with larger sales projects and connections with people in the Oregon wine business community and sales community is helpful.
Duties
The coordinator is responsible for selling wine in the tasting room and at trade tastings and other events both locally and potentially in national markets. The coordinator will understand wine buyers at every level from casual consumers to trade to distributors and may be asked to research, initiate, record, and follow up on sales. This may also include reporting to government organizations. The coordinator will promote the brand as often as possible.
The coordinator will:
• be able to work independently and start projects without help
• be able to open and run the tasting room
• assist with wine shipments
• assist with wine club packing
• perform tastings at stores and events
• report inventory
• visit local markets and work with distributors and sales reps
• understand pricing and the three-tier system
• promote the wine club and vineyard house
• understand the company and brand history to promote the
• acquire an Oregon food handler’s permit
• guide and assist other employees with tasting procedures and brand understanding
• be responsible for the performance of other employees
• initiate, manage, and complete projects for the direct sales manager and VP
• perform other duties as assigned
The coordinator will be asked to:
• work at the tasting room on weekends
• work certain sales events after hours or long hours
• work overtime as needed during trips or long events
In order to meet the physical demands, the coordinator will be able to:
• be able to perform physical work, including lifting 50 pounds repeatedly
• work on a computer or cell phone during business hours and odd hours
• have a current driver’s license and car
• stand at a bar or table for hours during tastings and events
• maintain a current Oregon server’s permit
The coordinator will be paid mileage and will be asked to travel locally.
Wage
The wage begins in the range of $18-$21 an hour depending upon experience. Commission on sales and events will be discussed at the interview. The job begins part-time until May, at which point it will likely transition to full-time.
