Portland Cider Company is seeking an experienced Cider Maker to join our production team. This is a hands-on, senior role for a cider professional who thrives in a fast-growing, quality-driven environment and wants to help shape the next chapter of a well-established craft brand.
Founded in Portland, Oregon, Portland Cider Company has built a strong reputation for balanced, approachable, and innovative ciders distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a seasoned cider maker who brings both technical excellence and a collaborative mindset.
About the Role
The Cider Maker will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of cider production—from juice to package—while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency. This role works closely with the Head Cider Maker and operations leadership and will have meaningful influence over production processes, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
•  Lead and execute all aspects of cider production, including:
o Juice handling and fermentation management
o Blending, filtration, and carbonation
•  Oversee cellar operations including tank management, CIP, and sanitation programs
•  Maintain rigorous quality control standards, documentation, and batch records
•  Collaborate on new product development, seasonal releases, and pilot batches
•  Work closely with packaging and operations teams to ensure smooth production flow
•  Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and sanitation requirements
Qualifications
•  Minimum 3–5 years of professional cider-making or wine making experience
•  Strong understanding of fermentation science and practical cellar operations
•  Proven ability to produce consistent, high-quality fermentations at commercial scale
•  Experience with modern production equipment and quality systems
•  Comfortable working in a physically demanding production environment
•  Detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven
•  Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Nice to Have
•  Formal training in fermentation science, enology, brewing, or related field
•  Familiarity with sensory evaluation and blending programs
