Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant is a vital component in our accounting team. She or he is responsible for reconciling and recording transactions and working closely with accounting staff and the management team. This position is an integral member of our accounting team, acting as a resource to record the transactions accurately and in a timely manner as we pursue our aggressive growth goals over the next several years. This is a full-time, exempt position and supervised by the Controller/Director of Finance.

Senior Accountant | ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary areas of responsibility are to record and reconcile the general ledger and subledgers with the accounting team, ensuring accuracy through the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)

Deliverables:
•  Effectively and efficiently work within normal hours as a team in Accounting Department.
•  Proactive, communicative and pay attention to detail
•  Hands on with minimal supervision or direction.
•  Professional, respectful and possess positive attitudes.
•  Accountable for month-end and year-end tasks or projects given.
•  Meet the deadlines as required for reporting set by the Controller/Director of Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
1) Ongoing general ledger maintenance to ensure accurate financial reporting and documentation. Particular focus on balance sheet account reconciliations.
2) Serve as a resource guidance to the other accounting team staff and management
3) Work with management to review results and make corrections/adjustments
4) Prepare and post journals for closing periods
5) Participate with annual budgeting process and provide budget to actual variance analysis
6) Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis
7) Recommend and implement improvements and efficiencies to accounting procedures
8) Assist with documenting procedures and internal controls
9) Be a positive team player and work together to meet the projects’ deadlines.
10) Maintain professionalism and positive attitude
11) Work on other duties as assigned

This individual should have a strong knowledge of accounting, be highly intuitive, and have the ability and talent to work independently, effectively and efficiently in a growing business environment. Enjoy working in a small, diverse, yet growing business, and show willingness to take personal responsibility for completing tasks and goals. This position will require clear written and verbal communication skills in addition to excellent organizational skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
•  This is senior level accounting position that requires 5+ years’ experience.
•  Previous wine industry experience required.
•  Strong background in accounting.
•  Ability to function professionally in a teamwork environment.
•  Bachelor’s degrees or equivalent
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QB Enterprise, NAV, Sage Intacct, SpotOn, Commerce 7 and Vin65 or equivalent a plus
•  Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
•  Maintain a positive work environment.
•  Strategic thinking – the ability to identify new opportunities to grow the business.
•  Work cross-functionally with other departments.
•  Able to sit at a desk for a long period of time.

GENERAL DUTIES / EXPECTATIONS
•  Conduct in professional manner and possess a positive attitude.
•  Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented individual
•  Knowledge in Accounting
•  Utilizing the POS systems, Wine Direct, Commerce 7 and Toast, to accurately analyze sales transactions and payments tendered on a daily basis.
•  Understand that change is constant, and job requires ongoing education and willingness to continue to improve.

•  At all times present yourself in a manner, both in appearance and demeanor, representative of a winery that produces world-class wines. Cheerfulness, helpfulness, courteousness, and appreciation of customers is necessary. Dress is upscale casual.
•  Ability to extend yourself past your own immediate needs to actively listen, hear and act upon customer needs.
•  Develop knowledge of our brand’s history and philosophy – what makes us unique.

COMPENSATION RANGE
$85,000 to $100,000 per year
