Responsible for supervising day-to-day bottling line activities and staff in accordance with winemaking and operational policies to ensure safety, maximize productivity and efficiency, and maintain the highest quality of wines are produced. Able to interpret basic bottling processes / issues and promptly apply corrective action. Delegates work assignments to staff as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  Supervises staff in all bottling activities
•  Ensures all safety regulations and systems are in place and adhered to
•  Tracks inventories of all bottling materials and finished goods on a daily basis
•  Tracks inventory levels of consumable bottling supplies such as filters, stretch wrap and lubricants; orders necessary supplies and processes receiving paperwork
•  Organizes, assigns and monitors the bottling Preventative Maintenance Program in coordination with the Maintenance Department; ensures basic Preventive Maintenance for designated equipment is completed
•  Maintains quality standards and addresses all quality issues raised by staff; interfaces with QC, Maintenance and Winemaking personnel to address quality issues
•  Tracks and logs all daily line downtime and ensures that information is accurate and complete; reviews data with Manager, Maintenance and staff and drives continuous improvement to maximize uptime efficiencies
•  Supervises maintenance of bottling facilities, recycling, and waste disposal programs to maximize industrial hygiene and utilization of recycling wherever possible
•  Trains and develops bottling staff in bottling operations and safety procedures
•  Designs and conducts packaging experiments
•  Performs daily inventory of all packaging materials
•  Conducts basic packaging QC and works with vendors on quality issues
•  Develops, implements, and updates line packaging procedures
•  Facilitates and/or coordinates department repairs and issues with the Maintenance Department
•  Ensures that all winery sanitation practices, inclusive of but not limited to, general aesthetics, operational, and storage are adhered to
•  Identifies, researches, communicates, and implements process improvement opportunities for operational efficiencies and wine quality
•  Evaluates staffing needs in the area assigned and coordinates with Manager to maximize labor resources. Time clock verification and review for all temporary and full-time bottling line staff, including vacation requests and scheduling
•  Completes and generates required efficiency reports and tracking logs, analyzing and recommending improvements based on the data
•  Performs all levels of bottling line and equipment operation when necessary
•  Supports and communicates with all departments influenced by bottling operations, including, but not limited to, Quality Control, Winemaking, Safety, Production, Lab, Warehouse, and Maintenance
•  Maintains knowledge and understanding of hazardous material and safety procedures (SDS) assuring adherence by staff
•  Ensures proper equipment use, PPE, maintenance, and storage for all bottling equipment and staff
•  Works with the Bottling Manager to ensure all mandatory safety programs are up-to-date and ongoing, and staff is in compliance
•  Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
•  Operates within bottling budgetary constraints
•  Ensures that adequate supplies, materials and equipment are on hand to support department functions and for adherence to supply/budget targets
•  Performs tasks related to assisting in bottling department management and continuous improvement, including: staff scheduling, training, performance assessment, and implementation of skills matrix; preventative maintenance program development and implementation by utilizing available staff; collecting, interpreting and determining corrective action from downtime/efficiency data to drive continuous improvement; safety program implementation; reviewing, revising and developing SOP’s; interpreting and reconciling daily production reports for entry into ERP/MRP system; maintaining appropriate stocking levels of department supplies and placing orders as necessary; etc.
•  Promotes teamwork with all winery personnel
•  Serves as a resource and mentor to bottling staff in winery operations, leadership and management

REQUIRED SKILLS:
•  Demonstrated effective leadership in a team environment
•  Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
•  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
•  Excellent supervisory, teamwork and organizational skills

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Minimum of 3 years advanced experience in all phases of bottling operations
•  Minimum of 4 years of management/supervisory experience
•  In-depth knowledge and understanding of bottling operations or similar production/manufacturing equipment.
•  Ability to operate bottling machine centers preferred.
•  Demonstrated ability to coordinate and document workflow
•  Demonstrated ability to allocate resources of personnel and equipment to see that production tasks are performed in a timely, efficient, and safe manner
•  Knowledge of safety regulations
•  Computer proficiency in MRP/ERP systems, Excel, Word, Email and database applications

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
•  Must be able to life 50 lbs. continuously if needed
•  Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders and bending are required
•  Working conditions in certain areas of the winery are cold, wet, slippery and noisy
•  May involve exposure to hazardous conditions
