Part-time Hospitality Associate

Robert Young Estate Winery is a luxury, family-owned estate in Alexander Valley, located 15 minutes from Healdsburg CA. www.RYEW.com. We invite you to join our small, professional Hospitality team as a Part Time Sales & Hospitality Associate, 10:00am to 5:30pm. This is a Part-Time Hourly position, reporting to the Hospitality Tasting Room Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager, and Tasting Room Lead. This role must have strong communication skills, take pride in customer service, and understand luxury hospitality.

About Us:
The Young family have lived on and farmed their 448-acre ranch in Alexander Valley for over 165 years, passed down through six generations since 1858. Robert Young Vineyards is the largest family-owned grower of premium grapes in Alexander Valley. The patriarch, Robert Young, was the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the valley back in 1963 - the varietal that Alexander Valley is famous for today. Robert Young Estate Winery is known for big, lush Chardonnays, bold Cabernets, and sublime Bordeaux blends selected from the very best vineyard blocks on the estate. We produce a carefully crafted 6,000 cases a year which are sold entirely direct-to-consumer and feature small-lot wines available only to our members and visitors. We take great pride in offering approachable, luxury hospitality experiences that make guests feel like they are a part of the family.

Responsibilities:

•  Provide memorable experiences for our guests with approachable wine/vineyard education, personable retelling of the family history, and gracious hospitality.
•  Comfortable in selling and closing sales; we offer a strong commission structure!
•  Able to use POS systems to process orders and review reservations.
•  Understanding of what is needed to provide exceptional, luxury customer service.
•  Engage the customer and evaluate their needs and expectations; each guest is different.
•  Provide suggestions for our out-of-town Members to complete their visit at local hotels, restaurants, and wineries.
•  Ensure tasting room is organized, clean, and well presented for guests.
•  Fulfill orders for pickups and shipping orders.
•  Assist the General Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager, Hospitality Tasting Room Manager, Events Manager, and Wine Club Manager with duties as required in downtime.
•  Promote teamwork and a fun working environment!

Knowledge and Skills:



•  Experience in hospitality and customer service.
•  A demonstrated ability to sell and complete guest experiences in a timely manner.
•  Basic understanding of wines and viticulture.
•  Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A positive, optimistic outlook.
•  Organizational skills, ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail
•  Strong work ethic and personal accountability.
•  Ability to use POS systems (preferably Wine Direct and/or Commerce7) as well Tock (reservation management)
•  Training will be provided for these systems, but past experience or the ability to learn quickly is preferred.


Experience and Qualifications:

•  Over 21 years old.
•  Previous experience working in a hospitality service role in the wine, restaurant, sales, or hotel industries required.
•  Must have exceptional customer service, communication, and phone skills.
•  If you are mature, polite, positive, hard-working, with a “can do” attitude and a good sense of humor, you will fit in well with our small, professional hospitality team.
•  This role will mostly require a person with strong inter-personal skills, but you must feel comfortable learning and working with relatively straight-forward computer applications such as Wine Direct POS/Tock/Reservation platforms. (training provided).
•  Ability to perform Tasting Room support functions (glassware, restocking, bussing tables, etc.)
•  Available to work weekends, holidays and be flexible with your schedule.
•  Available to work at our events: membership, corporate, offsite tastings.
•  Professional appearance and demeanor.
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards.
•  Follow daily operating procedures, open/closing protocol and safety.
•  Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
•  Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.

Compensation
•  Base hourly: $19-21/hr, not including sales commission, tips, and generous wine club signup bonus.
•  Expected average hourly on annual basis: $30-40/hr
