Position Summary
The Cellar Hand supports all aspects of wine production from harvest through bottling. This role is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to cleanliness, safety, and wine quality. The Cellar Hand works closely with the winemaking and cellar team to ensure wines are handled with care at every stage of production.

Key Responsibilities
Harvest Operations
•  Grape receiving, crush pad setup, organization, and workflow management
•  Press operation for both red and white varietals
•  Monitoring fermentations (Brix, temperature)
•  Pump-overs and punch-downs
•  Yeast and nutrient additions
•  Assist with vineyard sampling to assess ripeness
•  Assist with basic wine chemistry (Brix, TA, pH, RS, VA, malic acid)
•  Supervise and assist with training seasonal harvest interns and temporary staff
Cellar Operations (Year-Round)
•  Racking, blending, and wine transfers
•  Barrel work including filling, emptying, stirring, topping, SO2 and other additions
•  Barrel movement, maintenance, and organization
•  General cellar sanitation (tanks, hoses, pumps, presses, and equipment)
•  Sampling and quality checks
•  Forklift operation
•  Filtration support
•  Bottling support, including line operation, large-format filling, labeling, and packing
Record Keeping
•  Accurate completion of work orders and production logs
•  Recording wine movements and tank/barrel measurements
•  Experience with Innovint or similar winery software preferred


Qualifications
•  Prior winery or cellar experience preferred (harvest experience a plus)
•  Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work long hours during harvest
•  Comfortable working in variable temperatures and wet environments
•  Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
•  Team-oriented, reliable, and self-motivated
•  Forklift certification or willingness to be trained

Compensation:
Wage will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
