Argyle Winery is seeking an Enologist to join our Newberg, OR winemaking team! We are looking for an exceptional individual who is passionate about wine and shines all that the Willamette Valley provides. This position is responsible for managing the wine quality expected of Argyle and targeted by the Winemaker. The incumbent will manage all lab operations and recordkeeping, to ensure production is of the highest quality. The role will help keep the winery in compliance with all applicable government regulations and maintain all recordkeeping related to winemaking from weigh tags, processing, blending, bottling, and disgorging. This position is based in Newberg, OR and is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, scheduled Mon. - Thurs. (7am - 5:30pm) with flexibility of extended days and hours during harvest and tirage. Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years' of full-time work experience in wine production lab, or other lab-focused role.
- Must hold a degree in viticulture and enology, fermentation science, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Have outstanding palette and winetasting skills with the ability to perceive subtle differences in wine (acidity, flavors, flaws, etc.).
- Excellent written and communication skills along with strong logical and analytical reasoning.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite with Vintrace experience preferred.
- Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure all juice and wines are kept within winemaker's specifications
- Lab analysis conducted on a timely basis and wine adjustments made as required
- Support R&D trials and innovation projects
- Support with tasting blending and bench trials
- Vineyard monitoring and data gathering supported as required
- Ensure high QC standards are met or exceeded
- Winemaking records are fully maintained and up to date
- Maintain accurate and timely production records (Vintrace, Teams, Excel)
- Maintain all records and paperwork are up to date and in line with compliance requirements
- Inventory (Bulk, Finished, and Dry Goods) tracked and monitored
- Effective recording of wine chemicals/supplements
- Safety committee member and advocate
