Founded in 2006, French Country Wines is a boutique wine shop dedicated to small, family-owned organic or biodynamic French wineries. We pride ourselves on bringing customers quality French wines at affordable prices, as well as, warm hospitality and creating a memorable, “bespoke experience” for every guest. We’re looking for a friendly, motivated part-time team member who enjoys wine, learning, and connecting with people. A team member who can help offload the owner a few hours a week.
Position Overview
The Part-Time Wine Shop Associate supports daily shop operations, provides exceptional customer service, and helps maintain an inviting, well-organized environment. This role combines customer interaction, event support, light merchandising, and operational tasks. Wine knowledge is a plus, but we’re happy to train the right person.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Tastings
•  Welcome customers, answer questions, and make wine recommendations.
•  Assist with weekly tastings and in-store events.
•  Support new Thursday tastings, Friday shop coverage, and Saturday wine tastings/tear-down.
•  Set up and tear down for Thursday evening wine classes.
•  Ensure all glassware and tasting supplies are spotless and ready.
Shop Operations
•  Maintain shop cleanliness, presentation, and product displays.
•  Receive, stock, and manage wine inventory.
•  Keep back rooms organized and reset after events.
•  Operate the POS system and assist with Wine Club sign-ups and support.
•  Provide backup coverage for Meredith, Matt, and Kristen.
Marketing & Outreach Support
•  Assist with content for weekly marketing emails (finalized/sent Thursday at 1 PM).
•  Capture or create content (photos, short videos, reels) for social media in coordination with Kelsey.
•  Mural customer and social media photos, displays, and wine features for marketing use.
•  Support outreach to Nonprofits, Law firms, West University groups, and other partners.
•  Help with email list cleanup and customer database updates.
•  Assist with special VIP events as needed.

Qualifications
•  Friendly, customer-focused attitude.
•  Strong communication and organizational skills.
•  Interest in wine and willingness to learn.
•  Ability to lift and move wine boxes (up to ~30 lbs).
•  Reliability and punctuality.
•  Retail, hospitality, or event experience preferred.
•  TABC pouring license (or willingness to obtain).
•  References or referrals welcome.

Schedule & Compensation
•  5–15 hours per week. Flexible.
•  Competitive hourly pay, employee wine discounts, and opportunities to learn about wine.
Weekly Hours – Example where owner needs an extra hand currently.
•  Thursday: 4:30–8:30 PM (2-4 hrs.) — includes setup for evening classes when they occur (expect two per month) and complimentary tastings (4:30–6:30 PM) as needed.
•  Friday: 3:00–6:00 PM (2-3 hrs.) — Thursday class cleanup touches, shop coverage, prep for Sat as needed.
•  Complimentary Saturday 12pm-5pm (TBD on hrs.) tasting support as needed.
•  Owner will work with you around your Univ. schedule etc.
