Job Description:

Paul Hobbs Wines is searching for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant (SA) is responsible for: 1) maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and 2) managing accounts payable and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.

This position includes a full benefits package including paid time off, paid company holidays, insurance (health, dental, vision) and 401k with company match.

Example of responsibilities (not limited to those listed below):
1. General accounting and financial support:
a. Maintains and records fixed asset transactions, including monthly depreciation and supporting schedules.
b. Performs invoicing for custom crush, grape, and bulk wine transactions.
c. Prepares and files sales tax, CRV, and property tax returns, as assigned.
d. Maintains accounting records and entries across AP, AR, bank deposits, and the general ledger.
e. Reconciles ERP account balances with external sources (banks, C7, warehouse, Innovint) and prepares supporting schedules for amortization and other adjustments.
f. Performs month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and bulk wine costing.
g. Monitors grape weighmaster certificates and grower case activity to ensure contract compliance.
h. Prepares ad hoc and management reports as needed.

2. Accounts payable and transactional support:
a. Manages vendor invoice processing, ensuring accuracy, coding consistency, and timely payments.
b. Collaborates with cost center managers to resolve billing issues and verify proper expense allocation.
c. Processes employee travel and expense requests in a timely manner.
d. Imports and reconciles Divvy/Bill transactions within the ERP system (NetSuite).
e. Assists with annual 1099 preparation and related compliance reporting.
f. Maintains schedules of container and barrel payments in both USD and foreign currency.

Specific qualifications & skills:

Job requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required; and
2. 2+ years’ related experience/training.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong Excel skills preferred.
4. ERP system working knowledge, NetSuite and Net Asset experience desired, QuickBooks, Adaptive, Innovint.
5. Must handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
6. Flexibility to work weekends and off hours when needed.
7. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs., or a 9L case of wine.
8. Basic knowledge and appreciation of fine wines with a dedication to ongoing learning.
