Abbott Claim is a winery located in the countryside of Carlton, Oregon. We focus on making small-production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines of uncompromising quality from our organically and regeneratively farmed estate vineyards, as well as from a few choice sites around the Willamette Valley.

- Position Summary -

The Cellar Master (CM) is responsible for carrying-out daily cellar and lab operations. Working closely with the Assistant Winemaker and Winemaker, the CM ensures that wines are produced with precision, care, and consistency from harvest through bottling.
The ideal candidate is particularly passionate about wine, curious, detail-oriented, quality-driven, and comfortable working in a small-team, high-standards environment. This is a fantastic hands-on opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills, knowledge and proficiency in all things wine.

- Key Responsibilities -

Cellar Work & Wine Production
•  Participate in the execution of all cellar operations including grape receiving, sorting, de-stemming, pressing, fermentation management, racking, blending, aging, filtration, and bottling.
•  Monitor and intervene on wines at all stages of production, making adjustments in consultation with the Assistant Winemaker.
•  Perform routine wine movements, barrel work, and topping schedules.
•  Maintain accurate cellar and production records.

Quality & Sanitation
•  Perform lab analysis and sensory evaluation as needed.
•  Uphold exceptional cleanliness and sanitation standards in all cellar areas.
•  Follow winery SOPs and winemaking protocols.

Team & Workflow
•  Help train and lead a small team of seasonal harvest workers.
•  Help coordinate daily tasks and priorities in a flexible, fast-moving environment.
•  Model safe work practices and quality-first decision-making.

Equipment & Facility
•  Operate, clean, and maintain cellar equipment (tanks, presses, pumps, hoses, bottling equipment).
•  Identify maintenance needs and help coordinate repairs.
•  Perform cellar organization and inventory.

Harvest & Seasonal Work
•  Plan, manage and execute harvest logistics in coordination with the Assistant Winemaker & Winemaker.
•  Plan, manage and execute bottling and packaging logistics in coordination with the Assistant Winemaker & Winemaker.
•  Work extended hours during harvest and other key production periods.

- Qualifications -

•  Degree in Enology, Fermentation Science or related field, or equivalent hands-on winery experience.
•  2 - 5 years of cellar experience in premium wine production.
•  Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Assistant Winemaker.
•  Must have a valid Driver’s License.

•  Passionate and knowledgeable about fine wine.
•  Uncompromisingly high attention to detail.
•  Positive, “no-job-is-too-small” attitude.
•  Skilled with data and metrics as they relate to wine production.
•  Strong organizational and time-management skills.
•  Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in wet, cold, and variable conditions.
•  Comfortable with working long hours during harvest.
•  Forklift proficiency and/or willingness to improve.
•  International experience is a plus.

- Work Environment -

•  Hands-on role in a small, collaborative winery setting.
•  Seasonal workload variability including intense harvest and bottling periods.
•  Travel requirements: 10% or less.
•  Reports to: Assistant Winemaker.

- Compensation & Benefits -

•  This is a Full-Time, salaried position, eligible for company benefits including but not limited to: Paid Time Off, employer-sponsored Health, Dental & Vision insurance plans, 401(k), Life insurance, Flexible Spending Account, Phone & Wellness allowances.
•  Salary: $42,000 – $55,000 /year, DOE.
