San Francisco Wine School is seeking a reliable, hard-working, detail-oriented Facilities Associate who brings positive energy, takes pride in their work, and relishes responsibility. This role is essential to helping us deliver the highest quality classes and events for our students, guests, and clients. Organization, efficiency, and a welcoming attitude are key to success in our fast-paced, hospitality-focused environment.

Position: Facilities Associate

Department: Operations

Reports to: Bar, Operations, & Cellar Supervisor and Office Manager

Hours: Part-Time (with Flexible Scheduling) up to 30 hours per week

Wages: $19-$22 an hour (Commensurate with experience)

This role supports both day-to-day facility operations and the successful execution of classes and special events. The Facilities Associate ensures that classrooms, offices, and back-of-house spaces are clean, safe, organized, and properly set up and stocked to create an exceptional experience for guests and staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. General Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
Keep office, kitchen, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas clean, organized, and in good repair.
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and trash/recycling removal.
Wash, dry, and put away dishes; monitor dish levels and ensure glassware and serviceware are ready for use.
Clean and polish surfaces, including bars, counters, tables, and glass.
Clean interior windows and glass doors as needed.
Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tightening furniture, and reporting any facility issues or safety hazards promptly.

2. Event & Classroom Set-Up and Breakdown
Implement detailed floor plans and layouts for classes, tastings, meetings, and special events.
Move, arrange, and reset tables, chairs, décor, and service items according to event specifications.
Handle and set up fragile items such as crystal glassware, decanters, and other wine service tools with care.
Set and reset tables, including linens, glassware, flatware, plates, and other service items.
Support event flow by monitoring guest-facing areas (classrooms, lobby, restrooms) and responding promptly to any cleaning or restocking needs.
Break down events efficiently and safely, returning furniture and equipment to proper storage and ensuring spaces are ready for the next use.

3. Laundry & Linens
Wash, dry, and treat linens including rags, towels, napkins, and other textiles.
Apply stain treatments as needed to maintain linen quality.
Fold, hang, and organize linens for easy access and inventory control.
Iron or press linens as needed for events and classes.

4. Kitchen & Back-of-House Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and back-of-house areas.
Wipe down and sanitize surfaces, prep areas, dish sinks, and service counters.
Clean and sanitize trash and recycling containers regularly.
Sweep and mop floors in kitchen, hallway, and storage areas.
Clean ovens, dish machines, and other equipment according to established procedures.
Check, clean, and help maintain the ice machine and other beverage service equipment.
Organize storage areas, including dry goods, glassware, and equipment, to ensure items are orderly and easy to locate.

5. Supply Management & Inventory Support
Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, trash bags, and related facility items.
Restock supplies in restrooms, classrooms, kitchen, and storage areas as needed.
Notify management when supplies are running low and assist in putting away deliveries.
Help maintain basic organization and labeling of storage shelves and supply closets.

6. Safety, Cleanliness & Guest Experience
Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Immediately address spills, breakage, or other hazards to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
Handle glassware and equipment safely to avoid injury and breakage.
Support a professional, welcoming atmosphere; interact courteously with guests, instructors, and team members.

Skills Required:
Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, orderly space.
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with management, instructors, and other staff.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Physical stamina, including the ability to: Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; Stand and walk for extended periods during shifts; Bend, reach, push, and pull to move furniture and equipment safely.
Comfort working in a hospitality and event environment where needs can change quickly.
Must be 21 or older. Identity verification and employment authorization required.

Preferred (but not required):
Restaurant, banquet, hotel, or event service experience.
Experience in facilities, janitorial, or building maintenance roles.
Familiarity with handling glassware, catering equipment, and event setups.
Interest in wine, hospitality, or education environments.
