Laffort are the preeminent producer and distributor of winemaking products worldwide. We are searching for an Accountant to perform all accounting operations at our busy Petaluma warehouse serving the North American wine industry. In addition to our Petaluma warehouse, we operate two satellite stores in the heart of wine country in St Helena and Paso Robles, and a satellite warehouse in Virginia servicing the East Coast. Laffort USA was the first winemaking product supplier in the USA to achieve Green Business Certification. Laffort are the first winemaking product supplier to have ISO 26000 Committed to Social Responsibility accreditation and are certified to FSSC 22000 quality standards.
The Accountant takes ownership of the day-to-day accounting functions of Laffort USA. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a small team. The position reports to the General Manager of Laffort USA and has direct interaction with the France parent company accounting and finance teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain and update the General Ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Accounts-receivable, posting all payments, generating statements and responsible for all collections.
• Accounts-payable, registering all expenses, including multiple local and international vendors, and service providers.
• Post and reconcile salesperson expense reports.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with financial reporting and budget preparation, as well as ad hoc studies and analysis.
• Prepare and file multiple-state sales tax returns.
• Support external auditors, including preparing audit schedules.
• Maintain and update SOPs for position.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with experience in a small business unit within a larger corporation.
• Experience in Microsoft Business Central a plus.
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Moderate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and management.
• Proficiency with preparation of accurate cash flow forecasts a bonus.
