About Own Rooted Hospitality
Own Rooted Hospitality is a wine consulting company dedicated to supporting family-owned wineries and women-led producers across California. Founded by Advanced Sommelier and 2023 VinePair Sommelier of the Year Alex Sarovich, we specialize in authentic storytelling, relationship-driven sales, and connecting exceptional small-production wines with the right buyers.
The Role
We're seeking a part-time Sales Representative to help grow our portfolio of family-owned wineries in California. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with on-premise accounts (restaurants, wine bars, hotels) and select off-premise retail partners. You'll represent wineries including SEPPI, Dancing Wines, Desforges Vineyards, and Mascarin Family Wines.
This is a relationship-first sales role—not transactional. We're looking for someone who values authentic connections, believes in the stories behind the wines, and is committed to supporting small producers.


Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with on-premise accounts (restaurants, wine bars, hotels) and retail partners throughout California
Conduct wine tastings and presentations for buyers, sommeliers, and beverage directors
Manage sales pipeline and follow-up with existing and prospective accounts
Coordinate sample deliveries and organize tasting appointments
Communicate regularly with OWH team on account activity, orders, and market trends
Attend industry events, trade tastings, and networking opportunities as needed
Provide market feedback to winery partners to inform production and marketing strategies
Maintain accurate records in CRM system

Qualifications
Required:
2+ years of wine sales experience in California market (on-premise preferred)
Established relationships with buyers, sommeliers, or beverage directors
Strong knowledge of California wine regions, particularly Sonoma County
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Self-motivated with ability to work independently
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
Familiarity with wine distribution and three-tier system

Preferred:
WSET Level 2 or higher, Certified Sommelier, or equivalent wine education
Experience representing small, family-owned wineries
Existing book of business or active accounts
Passion for sustainable and organic viticulture

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $30-40/hour (based on experience)
Commission: Competitive commission structure on all sales

Location
This is a California-based position. Ideal candidate is located in Northern California (Sonoma, Napa, SF Bay Area) but will consider candidates in other California markets with strong on-premise networks.
