Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cellar Master to join the Markham Vineyards production team! Reporting to the Assistant Winemaker - Markham / Winemaker - Textbook, this role is responsible for coordinating with the winemaking team to ensure all cellar operations are planned and executed to a high standard, according the Winemaker’s specifications, delivering on the production schedule on time and in full. This person must have good people management skills, providing clear direction and purpose for the cellar team and harvest interns. This role is based in St. Helena, CA and is a full-time, exempt position, working M-Thurs., 6am - 4:30pm (M-Sat during harvest as scheduled) and the incumbent qualifies for our outstanding health care benefits, PTO, 401k plan, wine allowance and more!

Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 + years of progressively responsible full-time work in the wine industry in cellar operation.
- 3 + years of supervisory experience leading teams.
- Skilled operator of wine processing equipment including but not limited to presses, filters, forklifts, and barrel operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology, Fermentation Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline preferable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office with Vintrace experience preferable.

- Self-Motivated and good communications skills
- Ability to lead employees
- Ability to detect possible spoilage, oxidation or other problems in juice and wine
- Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Weekly cellar plan covered with winemaking team
- Provide clear direction and purpose for cellar and harvest team
- Daily cellar activities detailed and communicated to team members
- SOP's are followed and communicated to all team members
- Winery facility is kept sanitary and well organized
- Team members are trained and coached on winemaking and cellar activities
- The winery cellar complies with OSHA standards and regulations
- Winemaking records and all wine movements are updated and maintained in Vintrace
- Safety Committee member, trains and maintains to OSHA requirements
- Additives and hazardous materials are handled appropriately and stored properly
- Responsible for on and off site barrel and bulk inventories
