Job Description:

Reflecting the spirit, grace, and uncompromised courtesy of our Founders, the Estate Greeter is the first face of Opus One, greeting guests at our front gate or at our guest reception desk. The Estate Greeter must provide friendly, welcoming hospitality when checking in groups upon arrival, guiding them to their tasting, and when necessary, diplomatically informing unexpected visitors that we are unable to accept guests without an appointment. Additionally, the Estate Greeter will have to knowledgeably answer questions about Opus One and our guest experiences, take phone calls, and help book appointments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Hospitality:
•  Warmly and professionally greet guests when they call in from the gate.
•  Provide clear directions for parking and guide guests toward the reception area.
•  Extend genuine hospitality to walk-in guests without reservations by checking availability and facilitating bookings whenever possible.
•  Offer a welcoming experience upon arrival in the Rotunda: check guests in for their appointment and either escort them to their assigned table or introduce them to their host.
•  Assist walk-in guests and “Purchase Only” reservations in a way that maintains an exceptional experience for guests with reservations.
•  Answer questions about the winery, vineyards, and region, and provide thoughtful recommendations for other wineries and dining options.
Administrative:

•  Create and print all custom welcome menu cards for tasting experiences.
•  Research guests online (e.g. LinkedIn) the day prior to their visit and provide information to hosts.
•  Reach out to guests to ensure next-day reservations are confirmed
•  Efficiently and accurately schedule same-day appointments in Commerce 7 for walk-in guests.
•  Process wine sales in Commerce 7 for “Purchase Only” appointments and allocate wine sales in accordance with established procedures.
•  Oversee table and host assignments in Commerce 7 to ensure seamless Courtyard Tasting Room and Partners Room operations.
•  Monitor availability and guest flow, making adjustments as needed.
•  Communicate upcoming availability to the team and maintain accurate records.
•  Ensure exceptional guest experiences by monitoring visits and closing out reservations upon departure

Support Guest Relations Team:

•  Assist the Reservation Coordinator’s with answering phones, responding to emails, and making confirmation phone calls and cover PTO for our reservationists as needed.
•  Support the Guest Relations Assistants by setting and clearing tables, buffing glasses, etc.
•  Support Private Events Curator with execution of on-site winery events and assist with event planning details (menu printing, ordering florals and linens etc.)
•  Complete opening and closing checklist of responsibilities including printing menu cards, counting cash drawers, unlocking/locking of all doors and elevators, uncovering/covering all furniture and checking all lights, music and veranda heaters.
•  Stay in communication with the Guest Relations team via the daily Microsoft Teams chat while always managing the flow of guests in and around the winery.
•  Keep the front desk clean and organized and maintain all entryways and guest spaces.

Additional functions:

•  Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of viticulture and enology by participating in educational trainings offered by Opus One and by outside sources.
•  Speak knowledgeably about all Opus One experiences, Curia Membership, and vintages offered for sale at the winery.

QUALIFICATIONS

•  Two to four (2-4) years working at a winery, wine-related business, or restaurant
•  Knowledge of wines and ability to tell the story that promotes loyalty and sales
•  Ability to communicate with clarity, diplomacy, and professionalism
•  Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
•  Competency in Point of Sales systems, Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
•  Outstanding ability in customer service and working with the public.
•  Commitment to excellence, high standards and working effectively with a team
•  Strong organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking and analytical skills
•  Flexibility and ability to manage changing priorities with enthusiasm
•  Must be at least 21 years of age

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•  Fluency in other languages
•  BA/BS degree
•  Experience using the following platforms: Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Commerce 7, and Teams

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation Range: $18.00-28.00 USD hourly*

* The base compensation range is base salary only. In addition to base compensation, all roles are eligible for individual performance bonus and company bonus that range from role to role. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, such as skills, experience, qualifications, and tenure with Opus One.
