Vineyard Shop Mechanic

Job Description:

Job Summary: Continuum is focused on developing a single estate-based luxury wine from Napa Valley that strives to be recognized among the finest estates and wines in the world. As an important part of our vineyard team, the Shop Mechanic is responsible for repairs and maintenance of company equipment, not including winery equipment. The Shop Mechanic reports directly to the Ranch Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•  Perform repairs and maintenance on company owned equipment and vehicles including tractors, agricultural implements, generators, wind machines, small engines, tour vehicles and off-road vehicles.
•  Develop an annual budget and monitor expenses for general repairs and projects.
•  Order, purchase, and pick up parts and supplies when needed, within spending limitations.
•  Maintain records of all repairs made and parts used.
•  Assist in research and purchasing new equipment.
•  Fabrication of agricultural implements and tools.
•  Field observation of equipment for practical repairs and improvements.
•  Always follow company safety rules. Ensure all safety equipment is operational and in place on all equipment. Know how to use all tools properly and safely.
•  Responsible for shop and office building repairs and maintenance.
•  Work with Ranch Manager regarding:
o Operational maintenance of generators, wells, and irrigation systems.
o Harvest assistance (i.e. moving fruit).
o Vineyard development.
o Vineyard operations.
o Other duties as assigned.
•  Assist in the transition to electric vehicles.
•  Maintain an overall sensitivity to a high estate aesthetic.


Qualifications
•  High School Diploma and technical training
•  3 to 5 years of experience in agricultural/construction mechanics, hydraulics, metal fabrication or related field
•  Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts.
•  Basic welding and metal fabrication skills.
•  Must be punctual and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
•  Must have the ability to work independently as well as work within a team.
•  Able to perform mathematical calculations based on a given work order.
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
•  Must have a valid California Driver’s License, be insurable by the company and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
•  Be able to maintain work area clean and organized.
Physical:
•  Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds up and over their head.
•  Able to see, hear, climb, kneel, walk, stand and bend legs and waist frequently during the day.
•  Able to work in adverse conditions including hot/cold weather, muddy conditions, soft soil, steep hills, etc.
•  Able to work frequently with arms extended 90 degrees to the body or extended above the shoulders.

Other Preferred Job Qualifications:
•  CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified
•  Forklift certified or willing to become certified
•  Bilingual English/Spanish
•  Experience working with electric vehicles
•  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
