Dobbes Family Winery/Wine by Joe located in Dundee Oregon is hiring for an experienced Cellar Lead position. This position will be working in our Dobbes Family Winery Super Premium wine production facility. Our operations also include custom crush services so this position will be exposed to many different varietals and winemaking styles.
Our wineries are also LIVE, Demeter and Biodynamic certified, with a primary focus on LIVE certified wines.

Pinot Noir production is at the heart of what we do, but part of what makes our winery unique to Oregon is the opportunity to work with several varietals including Syrah, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier and whatever else our team may fancy!


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Must demonstrate proficiency with routine cellar tasks and equipment, sufficient to require minimal supervision.
•  Must demonstrate leadership and communication skills that contribute actively to the efficiency and smooth operation of the cellar. This includes training new full-time cellar employees and providing sound feedback to less experienced employees.
•  Regularly performs routine cellar tasks including wine movements, chemical additions, barrel work, and preparation of wine for bottling. Usually performs or supervises advanced cellar tasks including flotation, filtration, and operation of other technical equipment.
•  Assist in setup and cleanup activities, including sanitation of cellar equipment to ensure quality and prevent contamination.
•  Performs monthly topping of wine barrels, gassing tanks, and other recurring tasks such as sulfur additions.
•  Safely and efficiently operates a forklift to maneuver barrels and other objects commonplace in the cellar as well as loading and unloading delivery trucks.
•  Leads harvest activities, including, but not limited to fruit processing, cap management, press activities, etc. as well as training and supervising interns.
•  Must have the ability to manage a full shift in the absence of Senior Management.
•  Assists in SOP writing and refinement.
•  Follows work orders as instructed by the Director of Winemaking or Associate Winemaker and is responsible for filling out said work orders to reflect actual work performed.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Performs other duties as assigned.
•  Assist with event preparation, set up and take down, throughout the year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•  This position typically requires 4 or more years’ experience in winery operations; or equivalent harvest experience (6-7 harvests.) Related experience in similar environments will be considered.
•  This position requires strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.
•  This position requires extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
•  This position requires basic math skills.
•  This position requires a demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and problem solve, with little to no direction.
•  This position requires a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) to a variety of audiences.
•  Experience in MS Word, Excel, Outlook is preferred.
•  Ability to work extended hours (up to 12 hours/day) on nights, and weekends, particularly during peak times of the year: harvest, bottling.
