Job Description:

SUMMARY: Experienced, reliable landscaper/gardener to plan, install, and maintain residence and commercial landscapes. Responsible for lawn care, plant health, hardscape upkeep, irrigation basics, and safe use of equipment to create attractive, healthy outdoor spaces. Key duties involve planting, mowing, weeding, pruning, and applying fertilizers or pesticides. This role also requires operating machinery, performing minor construction like installing patios or walkways, and maintaining guest-facing areas to ensure superior visitor experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

•  Perform routine lawn maintenance: mowing, edging, trimming, aeration, dethatching, fertilization, and weed control.
•  Install and maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and groundcovers; prune, divide, and transplant as needed.
•  Apply pest management: identify pests/diseases, recommend treatments, and apply pesticides according to label and regulations.
•  Install and repair irrigation components: basic troubleshooting, adjusting timers, checking coverage, and winterizing systems.
•  Install and maintain hardscape elements: mulch, gravel, pavers, edging, and small retaining features.
•  Operate and maintain hand and power equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, edgers, other small tools); perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance.
•  Conduct seasonal cleanups: leaf removal, debris pickup, bed cleanup, spring and fall preparation.
•  Follow landscape plans and plant lists; assist with site prep and basic layout for installations.
•  Ensure job sites are clean, safe, and organized; load/unload materials and tools; transport equipment between sites.
•  Communicate with supervisors regarding work progress, plant care recommendations, and estimated timelines.
•  Always follow safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), operate equipment safely and adhere to environmental and chemical handling regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but will provide guidance and training across departments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

•  Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
1-3+ years’ experience in landscaping or horticulture (entry-level considered with relevant training).
Bilingual in English/Spanish or basic skills in both languages beneficial.
Valid Class “C” driver’s license preferred.
•  Certifications (preferred)
Pesticide applicator certification or willingness to obtain.
Horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape technician certificates.

•  Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Practical knowledge of plant identification, pruning techniques, soil types, and basic plant health diagnosis.
Experience operating landscaping equipment and using hand tools safely.
Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic repair preferred.
Good communication, punctuality, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including prolonged exposure to the sun. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with hearing protection being available and required to use when using machines and tools that create noise.
