Viticulturist

Job Description:

We are a family-owned winery in search of a Viticulturist, who will work closely with our Vineyard Manager and the vineyard team. The Viticulturist will help in-field work to further improve the quality of farming practices and our estate vineyard. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in vineyards, enjoys working outside, and has a sense of curiosity and desire to learn. The Viticulturist will be focused on data collection, as well as providing support with detailed orientated projects across our estate.

Job Responsibilities:
- Monitors vineyards during growing season
- Work with Vineyard Manager to carry out irrigation through the estate vineyard
- Collect grape samples for maturity analysis during harvest
- Performs crop estimations; maintain records and report to manager
- Takes detailed notes during vineyard rounds and reports recommendations to manager
- Created detailed reports from data collected in the field (cluster counts, field checks, etc.)
- Review historical vineyard and harvest data to improve on future vineyard quality
- Assist Vineyard Manager with miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed

Qualifications & Skills Requirement
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to create vineyard reports
- Strong organization, communication, and project management skills
- A good understanding of pests and diseases
- Comply with company safety standards

Education & Experience Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Viticulture or Biological Science
- One or more years of hands-on viticulture experience
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the team

Working Conditions
- Moderate to heavy physical work
- Exposure to outside elements and physical work (lifting, bending, climbing, squatting)
- Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day), extensive walking
- Field work required throughout the season

Compensation/Benefits
- This is an hourly, full-time position
- Compensation is competitive and will be determined on an individual basis
