About the Role
The Production Controller (PC) is a data-driven operations planner responsible for transforming how our organization forecasts, schedules, and executes daily fulfillment. This role bridges Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Warehouse Operations to build a true Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) function—turning reactive operations into proactive, model-based execution.
The PC leverages data modeling, advanced Excel (including macros), and dashboarding to forecast labor, capacity, and materials. Acting as an “operational engineer,” this individual dives deep into raw data to create actionable insights that drive efficiency, staffing decisions, and non-inventory planning.
Key Responsibilities
S&OP Development & Forecasting
Build and maintain demand forecasts using offer calendars, historical trends, and conversion data.
Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to translate forecasted sales into daily and weekly operational load plans.
Facilitate S&OP meetings to align volume expectations, material readiness, and staffing across departments.
Labor & Capacity Planning
Create predictive labor models using fulfillment performance data (UPH, pick/pack rates, order complexity, SKU mix, etc.).
Recommend staffing levels, shift configurations, and overtime needs to Operations Managers based on forecasted workload.
Support strategic planning for surge events and promotional periods to balance throughput and cost efficiency.
Data Analytics & Dashboarding
Develop automated dashboards and reporting tools to visualize inbound/outbound volumes, throughput, and labor utilization.
Analyze large datasets from WMS, ERP, and marketing platforms to uncover trends, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
Apply Excel macros, pivot tables, and formulas to structure raw data for performance reporting and scenario modeling.
Materials & Non-Inventory Forecasting
Use forecasted order mix to predict consumption of packaging materials, inserts, and shipping supplies.
Collaborate with Procurement to ensure timely replenishment and optimal stock levels.
Monitor usage variance and implement process controls to reduce waste.
Continuous Improvement & Industrial Engineering
Lead or contribute to Lean, Six-Sigma, or 5S initiatives to streamline workflows and eliminate waste.
Use time-study and throughput analysis to improve process efficiency and labor productivity.
Partner with leadership to document and standardize planning procedures and data models.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in production control, operations analysis, or supply chain planning within eCommerce, logistics, or manufacturing.
Advanced Excel proficiency required (macros, VBA, pivot tables, complex formulas, and modeling).
Strong analytical and statistical skills with proven experience turning raw data into actionable insights.
Experience with WMS, ERP, or BI platforms (Linnworks, NetSuite, Power BI, or equivalent).
Lean, Six-Sigma, or Industrial Engineering background strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills; able to influence cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
