Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Cellar Operator 2 position tends to the day-to-day operation of cellar equipment. Perform semi-routine, moderately complex cellar tasks with specific instructions and set procedures. Requires some discretion and use of limited judgment and initiative; may be required to direct and/or assist in training of less skilled workers. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•  Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member's safety.
•  Follow, understand, and train all cellar sanitation standards and procedures to drive Right First Time Quality.
•  Understands and promotes teamwork among personnel, demonstrates professionalism, serves as a role model.
•  Perform cellar tasks: Clean & sanitize equipment, apply good housekeeping practices, perform wine movements, shipping and receiving, top tanks and barrels, use of chemicals and additives to juice/wine, operate moderately complex equipment, measure and calculate workplace data.
•  Perform moderately complex cellar activities including but not limited to assemble blends per winemaker instructions, add fining agents for clarify wine, etc.
•  Ability to proficiently operate moderately complex equipment such as pumps, lift truck, lees filter, cross flow filter, press, etc.
•  Provide feedback to Winemaking, Cellar, and Barrel staff on best practices.
•  Understand and comply to Food Safety/GMP programs and Quality compliance programs as mandated by company and regulatory agency standards.
•  Understand and be an active participant in any CI/Lean programs like 5S program. (Sort, Set in order, Standardize, Sweep, Sustain).
•  Responsible for compliance with sustainability policies and practices, which are economically viable, socially acceptable, and environmentally sound. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written through work orders.
•  Proficient in operation of cellar equipment.
•  Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
•  Ability to operate machinery and know how to use hand tools.
•  Must possess basic math skills.
•  Must be able to use meters.

Experience & Qualifications:
•  High School Diploma/ GED.
•  2-10 years Cellar Operator understanding and experience.
•  Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed. Long hours may be required, particularly during harvest
•  Must have understanding of basic computers skills: MS Word, MS Outlook, Enterprise Systems, and other winery systems.
