Facilities Mechanic – Team Lead

Job Description:

Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is seeking to add an experienced Facilities Team Lead to our Maintenance team.

Facilities Mechanic - Team Lead is responsible for leading the facilities maintenance team and assuring that all winery systems and equipment function in an efficient and reliable manner.  There is a focus on downtime prevention and facilities improvements.  Duties also include mentoring and training facilities maintenance staff as required; this role is a hands-on maintenance role.

Essential Responsibilities 

Assure that all systems are working in an efficient, safe and reliable manner through continuous reviews.  
Work with the Maintenance Manager to create written procedures for all facilities maintenance tasks.  
Assist in evaluating and testing wine production equipment and communicate the results. 
Work with the Maintenance Manager on scheduling and coordinating preventive maintenance on the facility's harvest equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operations. 
Assist in the development of and ensure adherence to schedules for annual preventive maintenance as needed throughout the year. 
Document and record annual preventative maintenance tasks. 
Identify equipment or systems that need repair or upgrades, and schedule work required through a managed system. 
Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to review work requests, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions. 
Assure that all critical parts and materials are in inventory to minimize downtime of critical equipment. 
Establish standards for machine set-up and operation (i.e. procedures and protocols, control of operating conditions).  
Support and train for effective machine operation and startups. 
Assist the facilities team to analyze down time reports to identify and make possible corrections to eliminate excessive down time. 
Assure that all company purchasing policies are adhered to when purchasing goods and services. 
Provide guidance to the maintenance team concurrent with the company values. 
Work with the Maintenance Manager on the review of maintenance team annually. 
Routinely review work in progress to assure that the jobs are being completed in a safe, timely, and professional manner. 
Provide opportunities for maintenance staff to increase their skill and knowledge. This should include continuing education outside of the winery as well as hands-on teaching of trade skills. 
Works closely with the Maintenance Manager and cellar Leads to identify machine performance issues and seek out opportunities for improved efficiency and product quality. 
Work with Maintenance Manager for issues related to team. 
Drive company vehicles when required (between locations or to pickup parts).  
Diligently adheres to all safety practices, SOP’s, and company policies. 
Other tasks, on any production line, as assigned by Management.

The successful candidate’s background includes:

Competency in bottling systems, including pneumatics and mechanical systems.
Minimum 5 years’ experience, including 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience required.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and document workflow.
Able to exercise fiscal responsibility within established budgetary constraints.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good supervisory, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Required to possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 
Drive forklift to move supplies and equipment.
Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, E-Mail.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and adjust to changing timelines.
Ability to work as a hands-on mechanic.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stretch, reach, grasp, crouch, turn, and kneel.
